I tried using the autoland in the Jetstream, it didn't even flare!!! It just smacked us right into the pavement and almost missed the runway completely, so I wrote it up. The mechanics informed me that it had never been installed in the first place.
 
As a passenger I don't usually say thanks, I'll say something more along the lines of "see ya" or "take care guys".
When I'm up front it's nice to get a thank you in certain circumstances, like pushing back late but making the time up enroute, but usually I'm the one thanking the passengers for flying with us.
