Yikes!! What the *$@! is that FLYnMONKEYS thing??? Dude!!! That thing's gotta go!!I'm gonna be seeing that thing in the mirror on some long overnight! JEEEZZZ!!
It is a rarity, thank God, that we don't take pleasure in the suffering of others.
The most contentious posts come from the Delta/RJDC camps. To be fair, there as been a lot less acrimony lately.
The source of the bad behavior comes from two group beliefs: one group thinks that they are the ultimate in aviation, and that they "own" certain kinds of flying. That was somewhat true until recently. Certainly, a great lifestyle and prestige are things that most humans aspire to. However, the industry is slowly becoming unable to support a large base of pilots making $300k/year. The major carriers are proving every day that THEY own the flying, not the pilot groups, and are not shy about insuring the company's survival by outsourcing routes as necessary to keep the airline economically viable.
In truth, the heavy jet pilots at Delta are economically beholden to the connection pilots for keeping DAL operating and out of receivership. They enjoy their continued great lifestyle becuase of hard-working, lower-paid pilots who fly smaller equipment for connection codeshares.
The other group thinks that they have been badly wronged by their union and their pilot brothers, and treated unfairly at every turn, with no thanks for their support of their big iron brothers' paychecks.
Certainly, the truth will be found, if at all, somewhere between the two camps. Reasonable voices must prevail, because if they do not we can never get together and flex the muscle that we once had as professional pilots. We may not be able to stop the market forces, but we can affect the speed and direction of those forces. That can only happen if we aren't constantly p**ing on each other's pantlegs.
