I wonder if anyone from the college has actually been to see it

There was European and an Asian (who was doing some crazy hours) instructors while I was there

It's a shame 'cos there could be a really nice school there, I really don't get the FAA's attitude - in the UK places like that wouldn't last a week (hopefully ;) )

Did you stay in the house  :D :D :D ?

What's Ellington like? worth a visit - I thought it was military

No, Ellington is half and half, with an Air National Guard Wing (the 147th Fighter Wing) and GA traffic. They have a few flight schools over there, but expect to pay some jack.

Clover is ok...lot of drama out there though. If you do go there, stay away from King Flight Service. Lot's of ego, and mx sucks. D&N is a good place to fly though. People are friendly, etc.

I don't instruct, but know a few around. I do alot of flying out of Galveston Scholes (GLS) too.

Good luck with that.

By they way, I didn't stay in the house. When I was there, they had some run down apartments in town owned by some dried out coffee and cigarette smelling ol' skag. I guess Boe had scammed her, or worked some deal. I got an apartment on 80 about two miles from the airport. It sucked too, (dope dealer heaven) but the whole town is dead/dying anyway, so it's not a matter of good neighborhoods/bad, just varying degrees of ghetto :p

Crap planes, lousy living conditions, sometimes extreme flying conditions, lots of foreign people, crooked boss, and lots of heavy drinking. Kinda reminded me of that movie, Air America. :D It wouldn't have surprised me if he DID put dope in the planes when we went on xc.

I don't know if was the same apartments, but we went to pick some students up for a night out :D they (the apartments) were real shady (I think all they had red doors, two level building), anyway the Euorpean instructor told some kids he was a cop!!!! (they were making fun of his "fashion sense" I think) - I got a quite scary for a while :D:D:D - then their mom arrived home :D

Are you talking about the student apartments, or the ones I was living in? The apt. I was living in was across the street from a small bar (easy access, right? :) ) called the shuffle inn out on Hwy 80, down the road from the school...They were a pretty rough place to live, but it was cheap, and I had just gotten out of the service then, kept to myself, and no one bothered me. I only slept there or passed out there, so it's not like I was there all the time.

The student apartments were really bad...little heat, lots of roaches, and the place was a real dump.

Oh well. It was a learning experience, and I liked the people I met (the townspeople, not the majority of students/owner) and I'm from Texas anyway, so it wasn't a culture shock for me.

I plan on going back out there to visit a few people, and will drive through the airport, and see if I can run off a few of his students :p
