Just a quick question, I have an E-145 type rating, but might possibly be going back to school for the CL-65, are there a lot of similarieties between the two, systems wise? SG's, DAU's, FADEC's(I know this one), APU operation, just anything minute and/trivial that comes to mind for differences of the two? Curious as to how much will be completely new, and how much will be different, but not deafening? Thanks!
 
The differences? Just one piece of crap versus a bigger piece of crap... Although, that piece of crap keeps me employed so I can pay the bills!

Ya one airplane maker actually knows that you fly an airplane with a yoke. The other trys handle bars. Handle bars were REAL fun in the cross-winds last week!
 
And one doesn't know that an airplane with nose down landing characteristics is a b@#$% to land in a 27 knot crosswind!! But it makes for good passenger reactions. On the plus side, you'll get really good at reseting circuit breakers if you end up in the CRJ.
 
Having flown the DO-328 Prop with the Honeywell avionics and now the CRJ, the hardest thing will be learning the new acronyms (sic) for the pieces of avionics. The DAU (data aquisition units) are called DCU (data concetrator units) on the CRJ. IACc are now IAPS, etc. I was VERY luck that one of the guys teaching my systems had flwon the 328 and gave me a quick A=B side talk. Also, the CRJ glass is not as pretty and nice as the Honeywell avionics. There are some things you just can't do on the CRJ, like independant range, tilt and gain on the radars (unless you are on the 70 seater).
 
The biggest differfence will be now people will say your airplane looks pretty cool instead of "kinda dorky".

outfitted like a real airplane and on is outfitted like a Brazilian Schwinn Roadmaster. The ERJ needs a bell and plastic tassles hanging from the yoke. It land so easy, even in HUGE x-winds, ya need some entertainment during the whole process. The CRJ has a REAL coffemaker, obviously the most important factor when comparing the two

The ERJ doesn't have those stupid hot pots like the EMB120 did, does it?

The CRJ has TWO real coffee makers. ;)

Its nice to brew a pot on one and warm your lunch up on the other.
 
I thought that XJT's ERJs had coffeemakers now. I remember a couple years ago they started installing them and getting rid of the big coffee pots.

I left COEX over a year ago but they all had real coffee makers when I left. They also have nice boarding music. I miss the classic 70's rock we used to play while the pax were boarding. The company would give the flight attendants a new CD each quarter. They would change the lineup of music but the CD player would not let you skip a song. I remember having to endure a Sinatra song as #1 every leg of a 4 day for 4 months before they finally changed the CD. I like Sinatra but this got old every leg.

Those coffee makers on the CRJ brew some vile stuff, the sort of stuff you repair holes in the ramp with. I'm not sure it's really appropriate to refer to it as coffee.
 
After talking to mx and them telling me what the potable water tanks are like on the inside, I'll take a pass on the coffee.
 
I knoe a guy who "borrows" the little mini coffee makers from overnight hotels, plugs them into the galley electrical outlet, and uses bottled water to make his coffee.

Says he started doing that after he saw the potable water tanks.
