From Apple:

“Our philosophy is simple—when Apple brings a new subscriber to the app, Apple earns a 30 percent share; when the publisher brings an existing or new subscriber to the app, the publisher keeps 100 percent and Apple earns nothing. All we require is that, if a publisher is making a subscription offer outside of the app, the same (or better) offer be made inside the app, so that customers can easily subscribe with one-click right in the app. We believe that this innovative subscription service will provide publishers with a brand new opportunity to expand digital access to their content onto the iPad, iPod touch and iPhone, delighting both new and existing subscribers.”

So Jepp now MUST provide a way to purchase subscriptions through their Jeppesen Mobile TC app, and any purchase made through the app, Apple gets 30% of... Include recurring subscriptions... This could get interesting....

Actually this could be a better way for Jepp to get more subscribers to the application by finally offering a cheaper way to get the program. Jepp's cost structure and the requirement that you burn one of your licenses to use the application has always been poor planning in my opinion. We have Jeppview on multiple machines and have multiple hangars within our operation and having to buy them in blocks of four is just silly.

Just think about the guy with the 210 or other light GA aircraft that would like to use the application and already owns the iPad but really has no need for a full version of Jeppview.

But then again, when has Jepp ever had forward thinking...

charge whatever ya want....nobody's going back to paper.

I would think that foreflight and not apple would be hurting Jepp in the echart market. You get so much more for just $75 per year and the FAA product is getting pretty close to Jepp.

And now you can get Geo-referenced appoach charts on ForeFlight for only $149.00 per year. Can't get this with Jepp on the ipad (for now.)

Foreflight is really nice, but only supports domestic operations.
