HOPE

Well for the sake of the poolies and the internal guys, Lets hope that FedEx does something soon..

I do remember talking to KD in October 02' and she said there would not be anymore classes until after the new year.. And they had a November class of 24.. Maybe, something will happen soon.. One of my sponsers said it changes on a daily basis.. Lets hope he is right...

Either way Good Luck everyone...

heard from another source tonight that the June class was canceled, as stated earlier in this thread, with no prediction on when they will resume. He also said that 3 internals had just started or were starting soon so hopefully that is a good sign that things will get will get rolling soon. It seems to be flight ops wanting to get things going and the bean counters saying no...hopefully retirements and overtime will make them say yes soon!

Bid still cancelled?

Just wondering from the line guys if the last bid is still going to be redone. If so, it might lead to new-hire classes...if not, i might need to re-inflate my LPU's. They just don't make the water-wings like they used to.

Last Bid

Upon further review, the bid stands. Don't know if that means we might have another shortly or not. Still haven't heard any good news about classes to fill the 53 "vacancies" in the back of the Boeing generated by that bid.

Boxtrower thanks for the insight and info. That put a lot of answers to rest for me. I am in the pool and am is hopeful as anyone. Whoever mentioned the classes cancelled for the year, and then they fired one up with short notice I think we are all hopeful that any day could and will be the day. Its also nice to see people giving intel instead of argueing over unfixables.POSITIVITY.

Never forget...

It was just last June/July when guys like me were getting interviewed/hired.

It was just last July/August when guys like me were supposed to be in hard class dates set for August/September.

It was just last September/October when guys like me were suddenly told all classes were cancelled for the unforseeable future due to bean counters and "making the numbers".

It was just last early October when guys like me were swimming in the pool, hearing that the company line was "no new classes until at least March 2003."

It was just late last October/early November when guys like me received another last minute phone call saying "FedEx suddenly would be running a class of 24 newhires on 18 Nov. That's only about 10 days away...can ya make it?"

What's my point?

Things change quickly at FedEx. Plan your life to survive and keep your options open.

...and wine? ... always drink wine!

Regards,

Kav

Kav,

Thanks for the perspective...I'm ready yesterday!

Talked to KD yesterday and asked about the June classes, she said that they have ceased all spending for any unjustifiable items. She said this is very common this time of year. They would not give her any info on how long it might be before they could even think about a class. Kd also answered some questions about internal transitions for flight positions and said that only 3 Pro Instructors are up for the main line but they are not available until October and a couple from the corporate side. Last, she stated that the internal employees do get first dibs on class but those numbers total 8 or less. So thats all for now. Any other info; please let it flow.
