Long gone...

The 727-100s have been parked for quite a while. They phased them out as they got -200 and -200A 72s.

;)
What he said. Replaced over the last few years. Apparently, they still bring good $ overseas.

Try 701DH, 702DH, 703DH, 705DH, 707DH, 709DH and the queen 708DH.

Replaced with 763AT, 784DH, etc. Got behind on the a/c registrations so I
don't know what the N numbers of the ones being modded right now will be.

Remember DHL is now a German company and and a lot of the longhaul is being flown by Lufthansa cargo!
I have heard that there has been a study to add MD11 to EAT's(dhl belgium) AOC!
Lots of things changing here in Europe ,it looks like the main hub will move from Brussels to Liepzig what will help with the expension to the east
But in good DHL tradition ,they dont tell us anything

The latest from my contacts at ABX say that DHL is going to go ahead and build a third runway at ILN that is long enough to accomodate 747s and MD-11s going nonstop across the pond both directions. Of course those planes will be operated by Northwest and Lufthansa Cargo.

A question for any Astar pilot, ABX is starting a couple of new west coast shuttle flights that used to be contraced to Evergreen. How come ABX is flying that and not Astar? They are even going to use Astar facilities and ground handling at gateways such as LAX and SFO, plus I was told that Astar's flight control will also be doing flight following in addition to ABX's. Is this just another example of how DHL values Astar's scope clause? If I was an Astar pilot I would be raising holy hell with the union as to why Astar is not flying those routes. Is this just another attempt by DHL to play ABX and Astar against one another?

Why would they need to build a new runway? Is 10,700'x150' not big enough for a 747 or MD11? UPS seems to manage at IIU with only 10,000'x150'.

We've heard rumors about that. I know the NWA guys don't like to take off on any runway less than 12,000 with 0 kts tailwind component. May not be necessary in theory but that's the way it is every night.

I've been told by the loaders the the loads are not enough for a 727 on one segment and we either have a flag vs supp. issue on the other or a contractual issue as I hear the duty time was 15 hrs. or more. On the other hand, they say the loads on the other segment is about too much for an ABX -9 with the small cans. They are screaming about having to truck their non-conveyables to some other station because they won't fit on any of ABX's aircraft (-9 or -767) because of the small containers and wasted bulk.

We have MTGOW ceiling in our scope with restrictions that allowed Evergreen to do it in the first place. So, in essence, we're in no different situation than we were when Evergreen was doing it.

I don't think so because DHL or contractors provide our ground services (except for airline related functions) due to the DOT problems. :)

I doubt it. The couldn't execise any operational control so what would be the point. Unless they were collecting data for some other purpose.

We are. We have numerous grievances and lawsuits. But they take time.

Playing one against the other? I don't think they are sophisticated enough to do that right now. They basically took a razor blade to the organizational chart and left themselves with few people with airline experience. I don't think they know what to do. We can be unhappy but not with the ABX pilots personally for doing their job.

Time will tell. There is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes. You can look at ABX's 2 quarter 10-Q and see that things are going to change.

Did you ever get a 767 with a working cargo door or is 797AX still experimental?

At least that is how it shows up on the FAA site and is listed as a CRAF airframe.

We don't do scheduled 15-hr duty days. 12:30 hours is the max that they can build into a schedule.

The 767SF is flying revenue freight.

Ours is 13 so it must be something else. That's why they call them rumors.

Thanks.
