Would anyone consider buying an aircraft that has been destroyed?
The airplane crashed in '67, was rebuilt in '68 and has been flying since. It is a cherokee 6. The N-number was changed when the aircraft was fixed. The pilot fell asleep and crashed. The tail is the problem area. The aircraft has completed all annuals and has passed a pre-buy inspection.

How does this effect the value of this aircraft, especially the resale.

Why is the tail a problem? If its been in annual for the past 40 years, chances are that nothing is wrong.

And if it was "destroyed", it could not have been repaired. Crash damage is repairable in many instances.

If you are looking for an excuse not to buy this airplane, IMHO, this is not a valid reason. But if you have a gut feeling that this is not the plane for you, please look elsewhere.

There may be nothing in the world wrong with the airplane. You may get an awesome deal and the plane may be the best one that you will ever own. But major airframe damage will indeed lower the resale. Even if the work was done perfectly it will have an impact on the resale. No big deal, just don’t pay too much.

One of the coolest airplanes that I’ve owned was a 1946 Stinson 108-1. It had been ground looped twice and it was really cheep!

Good luck,
