Desperately seeking info on Airtran

Help, I just got a call to interview in five days. The application pack wont get to me until 2 days before the interview. Ive been searching for gouge, but not much out there for Airtran. To top it off I don't know a sole who flys for them. Deserately seeking knowledge. Any input would be greatful.

Congrats on the interview. Looking at your profile (MD88 time) you may not need the sim prep but if you get the chance you may want to do the sim practice at Air Inc. the day before your interview. The frasca sim they use can be a little touchy. It costs a bit of money but I don't think one can put a price tag on a job opportunity these days.

Also, if by chance your application doesn't get to you in time (I've known that to happen to two people) don't stress. Just bring the information you would normally put on an application with you. If you have a copy of another application, bring it and transfer the infomation. You will be given time in between your four interviews (including the sim check) to complete the application.

Once again congrats on the interview and I wish you the best of luck. AirTran is a phenomenal place to work. You will not be disappointed.

That is not a frasca sim. It's a contraption with Monitor that shows all the instruments and MD-81 software package. IMHO a complete joke in a frasca shell.

I had 48 hours notice and no prep and of course no job. I walked away feeling great and 6 weeks later, "The letter."

Thanks for the replies all. I have taken your advise and found gouge as well as booked a sim with Airinc. By sharing the sim with another and the furloughed ALPA discount its only 305 bucks. Hopefully the investment will pay off.

Stuff you'll need for application

Just off the top of my head, here's some info/material that you'll need to complete for the application:

1. Every place you've lived in the last 10 years--Address/Phone
2. Every place you've worked in last 10 years---Address/Phone/Reference
3. Where you've gone to school--I think it went back 10 years. I didn't need to include High School

4. Current resume
5. Current Passport, FAA Airman Certificate, FAA Class 1--Originals
6. Bring logbook.
7. Flight-time summary: PIC/SIC/Part 121/Jet --The more specific the breakdown of flight time, the easier it'll be to fill out the form.
8. Valid form of ID with a picture on it

Good luck...smart move doing the sim prep...I know it was worth the $$ for me.

U can also search this forum for "AirTran", although U probably already knew that.

I had a question for AirTran guys, and I assume I already know the answer, but I'd like to know with more certainty.

The website says U need 500 PIC 121 or military.

I have over 650 mil PIC, but it's almost all helo. Would this count? I assume they meant 500 PIC mil Fixed-wing, but the website doesn't specify.

How they state the new minimums are 500 PIC 121 or military "equivalent" . I suppose only those that are screening the resumes know exactly what "military equivalent" means. I would think that it would at least mean fixed wing, but who knows? I would not let this prevent you from at least applying and seeing what happens.
