American Eagle is desperate for pilots. They run out of reserves every day before the sun comes up. Management is slow to start upgrading and hiring to fill the gaps.

One recent newhire class had eleven new hires scheduled. Only two showed up.

If you know of someone with a commercial pilot certificate, multi engine have them go to Desperate for Pilots at http://www.airlineapps.com/Intro/Eagle/default.asp

To be considered for an interview with American Eagle, Flight Officer applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Commercial Pilot Certification with Multi-engine and Instrument ratings
Total fixed wing time to exceed 1000 hours*
Multi-engine fixed wing time in excess of 100 hours*
A current flying job (12 month experience)
Current FAA First Class Medical
IFR Currency
FCC License
Possess the ability to work in the US
Possess the ability to travel in and out of the US to all cities/countries served by American Eagle
Ability to relocate
Ability to work weekends, nights, shifts, holidays, and overnight trips
Minimum age 21
* Flight time requirements are commensurate with experience

...........as if Eagle is the only regional with pilot shortage problems. Actually, they aren't THAT desperate. The have plenty of lineholders to junior man if necessary.........................they'll cover the flying one way or another.

Only if the lineholders answer the phone! :D

Don't do it. Force them to man the system properly. maybe they'll have to jack the pay up a bit to attract talent.

Added: I was checking out airlineapps.com, and for fun was going to enter the system, but they require a SSAN. Even though it's an HTTPS: site, that makes me a bit nervous.

How easy would it be to get ATR in MIA right out of training? What about FO on the CR7 out of training?

You know you want ORD Taco Rocket just like everybody else...:D

It's very hit or miss depending on your class date. They never seem to know what will be available 'til 0805 on day one. That said, CR7 is quite possible, but ATR MIA is unlikely. You'll have a good chance of ATR SJU and you can base transfer as soon as you can hold a vacancy based on seniority.

Good luck.

every base and a/c have been selected for initial hires this year except LAX EMJ. it's a crap shoot.

Mesa is short also, something like 250 pilots short

And the shorter we get, the faster everybody jumps ship

As the sinking continues...

Maybe people are finally fed up with the horrible pay, and they have come to the conclusion that its not worth it.
