When using ops spec C-55 to derive alternates under domestic 121, can you use RNAV approaches for the 1 nav - 2 nav rule?

I seem to recall that you cannot, but I have been unable to find a definitive answer from any FAA pub's.

Any help?

AIM 1-1-19 h.

Note: Any required alternate must have an approved instrument approach procedure other than GPS.....

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I know. Just typed in the name when registering and THEN looked it up. A great example of why to never do anything rash.

Realize this wasn't in the relation to the original question but as you posted this, if you are WAAS this limitation does not apply.

However, the AFM of the aircraft in question might require ground-based navaids for an alternate.

I know that, at one time, our CRJ700 AFM did require alternate minima to be derived from ground-based navaids - WAAS didnt apply.
