The other night I was flying and a guy checked in with center in a twin. Center called him a baron and he said he was a Deringer? A 2 seat twin made by Wings Aircraft in California. Does anyone have a picture of this or know anything about it? He said there were only 14 built.
thanks

That response time was impressive. I googled it and couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks for your help.

Ernie Gann bought the first one off the line, and Dodie flew it in a couple of races.
Who needs Google when you've got BD King?

Tragedy

Had a friend who was at the time a fairly senior Capt. at Western Airlines. His son had just graduated from flight training in the USAF. They were both onboard a Derringer flying at about 6,000' between Palos Verdes and Catalina Island when the radar return showed almost zero forward travel and obviously a rapid descent to the ocean. Appearded to be structural failure but I am not aware of any final detemination. Never found the bodies. This probably occured in the mid to late 70's.
