Looking for info/leads for contract work in the Denver area for the X...

I don't know of many X's based in the Denver area. I fly out of Centennial (KAPA) and I don't know of any based here. I'm not sure what Rocky Mountain Metro (Jeffco-KBJC) has, but I'll keep my ears open.

which is primary, the x or denver? bunch of new planes around town, rumor has it clay lacy is bringing a bunch more, but i haven't heard of any x's coming.

There's a X up at Jeffco. I think it's in the Ball hangar but can't be certain about that. I'll check with my F/A friend, she always better connected than I am.

I appreciate the info guys. Do all of you fly out of the Denver area? I'm in the Springs, will be leaving active duty in 3 weeks and have been trying to find 91 work...mostly around here, and as you are aware it has been a challenge.

Not to be a dick but 2500 hours of Hornet/Trainer time won't get you squat in the corporate market. (Been there, done that) Everyone knows you can fly, but without the time/type in the civil world you don't bring much to the table, for an operator looking for a plug-n-play Capt/FO.
If staying in the Front Range area is your overriding desire, I'd hit all the 135 operators at APA/COS/BJC and see if you can land a gig there. Six to 18 months of 135 jet time coupled with your 2500 hours in the Navy will make you much more competetive. It's a tough nut to crack in Denver, so be patient and network, network, network.
I'll be back in APA towards the end of summer when we move the plane permanently. Stay in touch here and I'll look around for you.

It is possible though, if you network all your old buddies and former instructors. I know there is a percentage of military guys that you know that are in the Corporate world. Besides a few Directors of Aviations that are of military origins, most of the corporate world are reluctant to hire former aviators off the street, so get your can of whoop-ass out and make it happen. I was in my backup plan, in training for SkyWest in the Brasilia, when I got a great paying job offer for a part 91 company and free Type Rating in a sweet aircraft. A hornet buddy of mine got me in the door, as he was similiarly helped. Feel free to PM me.

Hey guys,

I am currently an airline captain flying the MD-80. I am really tired of commuting, moving for jobs and the airline life in general. I would love to be able to find a good corporate job in the Denver area since I live about 15 mins from APA. Do corporate departments like/dislike airline guys? What are my chances of actually finding a job with very few conatcts in the corporate world. Any suggestions? Thanks

As Rice mentioned it is very difficult to crack into the corporate world here in Denver. Having been around here for a while now, I can say that I have had jobs in the past and present completely based on personal contacts. That's the way in works in the corporate world...anywhere I think. The most difficult aspect of Denver is that there are few operators. Unlike Florida, the East Coast and even the West Coast, there are very few folks running around in corporate aircraft here in Denver, thus there are fewer positions to fill, IF they even have openings.

Airline guys are in several departments that I can think of. Our chief pilot is an airline guys, another operator that I can think of is run by an airline guy and has a couple of airline guys in his staff. Others may shy away as a fear of recalls, but they are here and I would say not necessarily discriminated against. You are more likely to get a job from someone you know. Hiring a guy off the street without any knowledge of who he/she really is, is probably the biggest fear most have. You want someone who is "known" so that there are fewer surprises down the line...

I was an airline only guy and got hired with a major corporate department. I didnt know anyone either. I just beat the pavement with resumes and eventually got a call. Its doable, and the QOL is ten times better than the airlines. Good luck,
