FBI Tracked Kerry, But Failed to Stop Him

(2004-03-23) -- Questions about the reliability of U.S. intelligence services grew today as documents revealed that the FBI tracked Democrat presidential candidate John Forbes Kerry as early as 1971, but did nothing to stop him.

"This looks like another tragic intelligence failure," said an unnamed aide to the Senate Intelligence Committee. "FBI agents knew Kerry was in the country and they even attended his anti-war speeches, but apparently their reports never reached the highest levels of the agency. He was literally within our grasp and we let him slip through."

The aide blamed the failure on the Nixon administration, which he said was too distracted by the war in Vietnam to devote full attention to homeland security.

"If John Kerry is elected president of the United States," he said, "Republicans will have no one to blame but themselves."

Is this a joke?

You're joking right?

Did nothing to stop him from doing what? Exercising his First Amendment right to protest the government?

And the Republicans will be to blame because--ah, Nixon was preoccupied with the Vietnam War?

Why would we blame present day Republicans?

I'm really frickin' at a loss to see the pertinence of any of this.

And before you right-wingers get all wound up: I'd like to see Kerry thrown out on his-ass for protesting a war *he* participated in but *voting* for a war that circumvented the Constitution and *then* blamed Bush for mishandling the management of our economy and the war....

...I mean, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT???

Loosers, every single one of them.

Kerry: Abortion Would Have Averted Crucifixion

(2004-04-12) -- Sen. John Forbes Kerry, the presumptive Democrat nominee attempting to become the nation's second Roman Catholic president, yesterday said, "Jesus Christ would have been saved from the agony of crucifixion if abortion had been legal and affordable in the early part of the first century A.D."

Mr. Kerry received communion during a Roman Catholic worship service Easter morning despite warnings from several bishops that Catholic politicians who support abortion should not receive the Eucharist.

"From the gospel accounts, we know that Mary was not yet married when she unexpectedly became pregnant," Mr. Kerry told a crowd of admirers on the steps of the Paulist Center, described by The New York Times as a kind of New Age church. "Because Mary could not choose a safe, affordable abortion, Jesus was forced to grow to adulthood and fulfill the prophesies -- enduring the inhumanity of being tortured and nailed to the cross."

Mr. Kerry says he dreams of "an America where no person will ever suffer pain and death beyond the womb."

NPR Launches Hostile Takeover of Lib Radio Network

(2004-04-14) -- National Public Radio (NPR) today announced it would acquire all of the assets of the new, but financially-troubled, liberal radio network known as "Air America."

Assets include former comedians Al Franken and Janeane Garafalo, as well as several small bottles of spring water and a full pallet of Mr. Franken's book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right."

NPR's development department will immediately begin on-air fundraising to support Air America operations.

"Contributors who give at least $100 will receive an autographed copy of Mr. Franken's book," said an unnamed NPR executive. "Donors at the $200 level will receive the book, without the autograph. And listeners who give $500 or more will receive a small bottle of spring water."

Air America was knocked off the air in Los Angeles and Chicago today due to its alleged failure to pay $1 million to the owner of the two stations.

"On behalf of the American people, NPR will assume all of Air America's debt," said the NPR source. "The national audience for this kind of programming isn't big enough to sustain two networks. We own the niche...at least on radio."

Bush Failed to Stop al Qaeda During Clinton Years

(2004-04-11) -- A presidential briefing, dated August 6, 2001, and released by the White House yesterday, shows that in 1998 George W. Bush did nothing to respond to the threat of terror attacks from Usama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.

In fact, when correlated with last week's testimony before the 9/11 Commission by National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, it seems clear that the Bush administration had virtually no plan to act on top-secret intelligence gathered during the Clinton administration until after George W. Bush took office in 2001.

"The August 6 PDB (President's Daily Brief) clearly shows that the White House knew of potential al Qaeda threats within the United States in 1998," said an unnamed source from an unnamed, non-partisan Washington think tank, "and yet Texas Governor George W. Bush didn't do anything about these threats until after he became president."

A former senior official in the Clinton administration, who requested anonymity, said that former President Bill Clinton was "aghast at the lethargic response of Governor Bush to the clear and present danger al Qaeda posed to our homeland in the 1990s."
