Well said Michael.
I myself got hired on with more than 8K, but that is because of 9/11. If that did not happen I would have gotten on with about 2500-3000. It just goes to show you what a few years does.
Delta knows that they have success with low time pilots. The military does too. So there is a a little history here. It is not something new.

But what is the most qualified? Does 5000 hours automatically make you more qualified than someone with 2000?

Yes! Does having a v####a automatically make you more qualified than someone with a D##K?

All you people who have applied to Delta need to get over the fact that one girl got hired with 2000 hours. The total number of hours is not what gets you hired at Delta. Hours are just one part of the equation. Delta does not hire a logbook. The sooner people understand that, the sooner you will stop losing sleep cause some pilot with less hours than you got hired.

I was hired with 6,000 hrs and quite a bit of turbine pic. Not sure where you are headed with your rebuttal? There are thousands of pilots out there more qualified than the 2,000 hr female wonder pilot. There flaw is what is between their legs. According to Websters, that is discrimination. Do you advocate discrimination? You will never be able to justify hiring anyone based upon their gender, skin color, religion etc. Keep trying!

You assume she got hired because she is female. Don't be so quick to judge. Prejudice: 1.a. preconceived opinion.

The fact is, unless you were in the room when they decided to hire her, you don't know why she was hired, or what her qualifications for the job are, or what she might bring to the table. Flight time is just one of many variables taken into account, as are character, judgement, maturity, the ability to work well with others, etc.

How many white males with civilian backgrounds, 2,000 hrs and no turbine pic have been hired? As long as my company continues to discriminate based on gender, I will voice my opposition.

Do you know? Do you know for sure?

Any of this have anything to do with Delta's next airplane order?

Unless one of us is Delta's Manager of Recruiting, it really does not matter what we think about who got hired.

If some super sharp wonder impressed Delta enough to hire them - good for them. Being jealous of someone else does not help any of us succeed in our own careers.

Now, someone tell us more stories of 787's so General can dream sweet dreams.

True... I was at ASA at the time and was in line for an interview with them as a matter of fact with about 3000.. now 6 years later it's like 6 wasted good years!

Thanks for the offer for help btw... looking forward to the info.

Man, these guys are living in denial if they think that the 2% of the pilot population with an ATPs comprised of females translating into better than a 10:1 hiring ratio at the majors (as much as 5:1 at UAL for a while) has nothing to do with gender. Just let them go on living in their fantasy la la land..
