As someone who is based at home and fly commercial to get to and from work, I have to say I don't like the security practice being started by Delta, the airline I fly primarily from FLL to TOL.

I have to admit being a pilot and being branded by Delta, could lead to some problems with the TSA and maybe your "Security risk" status in regards to your ticket. I can see where the possibility for abuse of this process by an overzealous employee can ruin your career. What do you guys think about this...

I don't really understand why this concerns you. What makes you think you will be flagged as a risk?

Do you buy a ticket or jumpseat?

Ticket..

We travel on tickets and unfortunetly since company buys tickets at last minute and most times are one way we are already subjected to all the flags currently in the system. A few weeks ago our whole crew was moved from Seattle to Atlanta on a last minute to rescue a timeout crew and it was short of a strip search. 3 guys on last minute tickets one way in uniform. Being in uniform did not make it any easier.

I too travel a lot on other airlines using one-way tickets bought at the last moment. Most airlines have exempted flight crews from the extra security screening. I understand that TSA has encouraged this practice, however it is not mandatory.

From my own personal experience, and talking with other crewmembers, it appears that Delta has decided not to exempt flight crews from additional screening. I wonder if this new system will continue to target flight crewmembers for additional screening. As it is, I try to avoid Delta as much as possible.
