Delta tops US airlines for fees

US carriers take in $4.3 billion in fees so far this year; Delta tops with $1.26 billion

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. airlines collect more than $4.3 billion in fees for checking baggage and changing tickets so far this year. New data from the Transportation Department on Monday shows that Delta Air Lines Inc. collected the most, hauling in $1.26 billion in fees so far this year. That's more than the $922 million collected by United Continental Holdings Inc., which is bigger than Delta by traffic.Travelers paid more than $784 million for baggage and ticket changes to AMR Corp.'s American Airlines.

Southwest Airlines Co. does not charge to check the first two bags. But it has still collected $22.5 million in baggage fees this year for additional luggage

They also top this list of major airlines landing on taxiways.

But NOT for airlines taking off on taxiways, that is China Airlines.

Good for them, I'm tired of supplementing the cheep airfares of the last 30 years. The airfares people pay from JFK to Florida are less than the taxi ride from the city to the airport; and the consumer thinks that's fine?! FUPM

By the way, Merry Christmas

You are correct. And, if the fees help offset the higher gas prices, pay off debt, or allows the company to have higher quarterly profits which could help the pilot group in future contract negotiations, I am all for that too.

And, I hope you have a Merry Xmas too, and good luck in your near future negotiations. Keep that pressure on when it comes to Scope, too.

An accident aircraft or other. Or do you have a new non unionized

Ok, and we (delta) collected the most overall revenue this year because we're currently the largest carrier. How about showing a stat that shows who collected the most of these types of fees in relation to total revenue?

Another pointless article with misleading stats.
