Our first class (or business Elite) product is not bad at all,

Bye Bye--General Lee

I understand your loyalty to Delta. But you really need to get out more. As one who has travelled First Class, (as a full-paying passenger), on most of the major airlines of the world, I would not equate Delta's Business-Elite to any real First-Class. It is what it is as they say. Basically a hyped-up Business class. I prefer First class travel on American, British Air or Singapore. Delta would end up last on any list of First Class travel.

Nor should you equate the two as Delta do not charge 1st class fares on their bizelite. They charge biz class fares.

Delta Builds On Successful Los Angeles Expansion With 21 New Daily Flights to Nine Cities
Wednesday May 9, 8:30 am ET
Newest routes enhance connecting opportunities between Mexico, Central America and cities throughout the West
LOS ANGELES, May 9, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL - News) will accelerate the pace of its expansion at Los Angeles International Airport with the addition of 21 new daily flights to nine cities spanning from Canada to Colorado, effective July 1. With the expansion, Delta will offer customers flying to, from or through Los Angeles 100 peak-day departures to 48 nonstop destinations -- an increase of nearly 105 percent from the same time last year.

The expansion accelerates Delta's efforts to transform Los Angeles into a leading gateway for travel between the West Coast and Mexico and Central America. With the July schedule, Delta plans to offer Los Angeles customers flights to 17 destinations in Mexico and Central America and nonstop service to leading West Coast business markets such as San Francisco, Sacramento, San Jose and Vancouver.
``Based on our success to date, Delta is eager to introduce additional growth for customers in Los Angeles this summer,'' said Glen Hauenstein, Delta's executive vice president -- Network Planning and Revenue Management. ``In the last year Delta has added more than 55 flights to 34 destinations from Los Angeles to reach a growing customer base that is hungry for additional competition. Our newest markets will improve connections between destinations across Mexico and Central America with communities throughout the West with a growing demand for travel.''
Delta Connection carrier ExpressJet Airlines will operate the new routes using 50-passenger Embraer 145 regional jets with upgraded in-flight entertainment with more than 100 channels of free XM Satellite Radio and redesigned, memory foam leather seating with no middle seats. The new flights will be timed to conveniently connect customers to existing Delta and Delta Connection flights at the L.A. gateway, including dozens of flights to Mexico; transcontinental service to New York, Boston, Florida and Atlanta; and nonstop service to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada and points throughout the West.

Looks like the General will have to revise his bid for ERJ FO.:p

The Connection expansion is needed to fill the seats on the 757's and bigger. That marginal revenue is the angle Delta is best positioned to exploit.

Is there a Mexico - Asia market opportunity? I would guess the answer is yes. The US immigration laws are keeping a lot of business out of our Country and the next best place is close to the US - meaning Mexico and Canada.

We have some first generation immigrants in our family and since the US is closed, several sisters and cousins are headed to Canada and Mexico. They fly to Asia several times a year and are all in the medical profession earning around six figures in their 20's. They can afford Business Elite and would gladly fly someone other than PAL or Korean. But the $15,000 first class fares are too much. I think Delta might be sniffing around a pretty good market.

A shame our (ASA's) pass benefits are rumored to be on the chopping block. DL would still be the first choice when we have to resort to buying tickets.

Yes, but they have goofy teeth. I guess that is better than "grandma old."
