Hey Delta Pilots!

Does scheduling work the Shuttle routes into a normal line, or are there specific crews that specifically fly Shuttle routes? I've always wondered...

Delta is hiring GO Jets pilots......Thats like hiring freedumb A Listers....DALPA?....DALPA?...anybody home?!

To answer the question, the shuttle trips are pure LGA to BOS or DCA for one, two or three day trips. We have PBS so it depends on each pilot's preference as to what they fly on their Line of Time for the month. Most of the 88 flying out of NYC is shuttle with a few JFK and EWR trips. Those generally go very senior since they are longer legs and better trips.

A lot of the guys that fly the Shuttle live in either DCA or BOS, and they fly 3 day trips that take them home every night. That sounds boring, but they can always pick up a Nassau turn or fly a domestic trip through LGA, JFK, or EWR if they get too bored. It used to be that all Shuttle trips only did Shuttle flights, with a few Florida turns from LGA. It has changed with the introduction of the MD88 to the Shuttle, and the MD88 flying on the old Song routes. But, the Shuttle guys really do like that Shuttle flying. I was a Shuttle Engineer on the 727 for 6 months about 10 years ago. It was OK, but that FE postition really suked.
