I wouldn't be surprised if the dance partners changed. How would you feel if United made a bid on DAL? Just curious. Does DAL have a poison pill in place? Would DAL stakeholders jump at the opportunity to make a quick premium on the stock?

Make a bid on Delta? Is this BK where there can be a hostile takover? No. And, Delta already looked at every potential merger partner and concluded that the DOJ would not view a merger with United favorably. Top that off, if they chose to divest of large assets, local politicians would be "all over it like a Teamster on a Meatball Sandwich." Can you really imagine trying to combine #2 and #3 in size? The DOJ really wouldn't like it, and Oberstar would poop his pants in objection. Very very unlikely.

And if UAL even made an offer, would you make an offer with CAL? Think of all of the young pilots you guys could devour? They have hired 2000 or so in the last 3 years over there. I can see your pilots licking your chops saying "Date of Hire. Date of Hire. Now. Now. Date of Hire....." How would CAL respond? Not favorably.

Regardless, if you do not merge with us, you will keep your pal Steenland. How do you feel about that?
