"What is eye-opening to me is that you think that the "average" wage in Ohiotucky has anything to do with this subject."

Considering CVG is DAL's second largest hub I think it has everything to do with this subject. I know a lot of pilots commute but a lot live in the area and the prevailing wage around here is a pertinent issue.

The prevailing wage as you call it is based on what? Who are these average workers you talk about? High school graduates would be my guess. The Delta pilots are a well educated group with roughly 1/3 having graduate degrees. Fortunately for them, unlike yourself, they do not accept average.

You obviously didn't read the link provided, so here it is:

"Comair flight attendants make less than median area income
BY ALEXANDER COOLIDGE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER
With average pay at $28,600, Comair flight attendants make a little less than the typical meat cutter, law clerk, travel agent or choreographer in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, according to federal statistics.
If Comair succeeds in cutting their average pay to about $23,800 through bankruptcy court, flight attendants would make slightly less than the average occupational therapy aide and bakers but more than typical pharmacy technicians, general office clerks, switchboard operators and telemarketers, according to salary estimates by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The salary estimates, which are the latest available, were based on surveys conducted in November 2004 and were released last year.

Union officials have said with reduced benefits Comair is asking for total cuts of $10,880 for the average flight attendant.
Comair officials say their proposed cuts are necessary to compete in a struggling industry where competitors have slashed wages. Comair's pilots and mechanics unions have already agreed to pay cuts, but those are contingent on the flight attendants' agreeing to concessions.
Mike Boyd, an aviation consultant in Evergreen, Colo., said plummeting pay levels are the order of the day as the airline industry endures the current financial crisis.
He said while the pilots' strike at Comair in 2001 helped boost pay in the industry, now airlines are cutting left and right to stay in business.
"There's going to be an industry shake-out," he said.
The "average worker" in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky makes $37,740 or $18.14 per hour, according to the bureau. High salaries on the top end, however, skew the average. The median - half of the sample lies above, half below - annual pay is $29,740 or $14.30 per hour.

Very Strong? What, are you the Jen's "hot wife"? This is all a front. Those guys are spineless. Why do you think the Jen always goes on his pointless rants. The pressure is getting to those gals over there.

Wow, you're awesome. And, I guess a 95% vote for a possible strike means nothing. Dumba$$.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Then shoulden't the question be, "Has anyone seen any indications that Delta is planning or searching for a scab workforce behind the current pilot's backs?"

Dave,

I think we are more united, since the majority of our senior pilots (over 55) have left. We are also not under the illusion that our pension will stay around. So, that means we are more focused on a few very important topics. Our company only has one union, and the others were given cuts without a fight, since they could not. We are the last stumbling block on the road to super riches for management people and the creditors. They saw what happened with UAL, and I was told there are people lining up to invest (why? Good question)---apparently the people who invested in USAir's exit doubled their money, and more people want that opportunity. The best thing that could have happened to this group was the 2300 Captains leaving quickly. Those true "loyalists" that would have voted for anything to keep this thing around, in reality voted with their feet and left the building, leaving a group that has pretty much the same goals. Good luck to you guys.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Thanks General;

I agree, you guys seem like a much tighter group.

We have a vocal crowd who thinks our mgt can do no wrong.
They have asked for a over reaching contract and the fools can't wait to
vote YES.

We are all watching and hoping for the best.

Good luck !!

WE WILL NOT "take it in the A$$." Nope. We, as a group, are more mad than ever, and I doubt we will take a lousy TA. Nope. 2300 of the loyalists are GONE now, they would have voted for anything. I doubt any FO and half the Captains would vote to allow larger RJs that could replace them. Nope.

When this TA passes - you'll wish you had never made the above comments.

There will be more than a few FO's who will vote for this pile of dung.

At least 90% of the captains will vote FOR the TA (they will state differently in the cockpit/public.)

I told you so. We will "take it in the A$$."
