I'm currently have Gold-level status on Continental's OnePass frequent-flier program. I'm going to probably be flying Delta quite a bit for the foreseeable future, however.

I see on Continental's site that I can earn Continental miles on Delta flights if I want, and that I'll be a Skyteam Elite member when I fly on Delta. Which would be the better way to go: Earn my way up Delta's program, or keep earning on CO's?

CO has been just terrific about space-available first-class upgrades on coach tickets. Would Delta do the same for Skyteam Elite customers, or only for their own Skymiles customers?

Thanks for any advice.

DL does not do crap for CO or NW elite members as far as upgrades go. I am a NW Elite and I hated flying on them just becasue you can not get the upgrades. 1 agent told me that they would consider a platinum member for upgrade, but on a case by case basis. You get to preboard and have the other elite provliges, but not the upgrades. I guess its up to you. You will still have to fly 25K miles just to get an elite status with them. Personaly I would stick with CO, and tough out the ride in the cattle compartment
