From another website:

Today's breakdown:

4 767/757 ATL
4 767/757 SLC
8 767 ER JFK
8 MD-88's NYC

The ATL went 1,2,3,4...

I heard 3 classes in Oct for a total of 100 newhires. Back to 60 in Nov then a break for the holidays.

No they aren't slowing down, the shrink keeps kicking people out. 24 a class, 2 classes a month there about, and 10 a month kicked out by shrink is roughly 60 a month.

I thought DAL was hiring 60-75 pilots per month. Are things slowing down?

That was the first of three classes this month. There will be 2 classes in NOV, then 1 in DEC (supposedly, due to Holidays), and then the rumor is up to 700 next year. A lot depends on the possible acquiring of other used aircraft.

Bye Bye--General Lee

What is the shrink kicking them out for?

OK, forgive my bluntness, but enough of the thread hijacking.

Every single Delta thread somehow gets diverted by someone griping about the psych eval. From what I understand, there are plenty of former military folks getting hired at Delta without any psych issues.

So please, stop playing the "poor little me" card and boring everyone with tales of despair.

Rant complete.

EMB Pilot - Can not answer your question, but might be able to help with some information.

Each class has different aircraft and domiciles awarded. It is impossible to determine if you could hold a base with a future new hire assignment, even if your Social Security number is 9999.

The good news is that new hires have been able to hold SLC with their first advanced entitlement bid, so it is reasonably certain that you could bid SLC and get it within the next AE bid. There is supposed to be one in November.

I thought the 767/757 would go super senior, but at this moment it is junior to the 737N and the MD88. It just illustrates the point that trying to second guess the new hire assignments is difficult.

I'm guessing with all the bidding back to ATL the MD88 NYC will keep showing up in new hire assignments to back fill for those getting closer to home on their AE awards.

If you are on board, or know someone who can run the numbers for you, the bidding system will let you know how many people are ahead of you on a bid.

any idea how junior atl 767/757 went? just got my "ok to train" email yesterday waiting on a class date. I have very low last 4.....20**

guess i need to start thinkin bout a NYC crashpad...can anyone explain how the "ae" bid works? if i get NYC out of the box in training...and then bid for atl or slc, would I actually ever be domiciled in NYC or possibly end up in atl or slc by the time i get out of training?

Sounds like you will get NYC on the MD88, but no need to worry, you probably will be eligible for the next large bid in NOV. If you want another plane, then you can bid it then, or another base if you don't want to live in NYC or commute there. Getting the MD88 will probably get you a line sooner in ATL or NYC with the people bailing out of there as soon as they can. The Advanced Entitlement allows you to bid bases or planes, and if your seniority can hold them, you are awarded them. There are planes and categories that that Delta cannot seem to fill, like the 767ER or INTL 767 out of JFK. (primarily because of the short call requirements for INTL---8 total per month with a 24 hour call out) If you want to fly 767s to Europe or South America, then that is a place to start. So, when you are hired and get access to the Delta computer system, you can bid what you want and in what order, also with the ability to be in a certain percentage of the pilot category when awarded. (if you want an award only if it is in the top 80% of a category (to avoid reserve), then you can put that in there) Just remember to bid what you want, and want what you bid. Many people have been caught off guard after forgetting what they bid and then receiving that award a few years later. Congrats on getting hired here.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll just roll with whatever comes my way...trust me when I say I am glad to take whatever domicile and a/c is assigned and then bid to what I want at a later time.

What kind of seat lock do you have at Delta?

There is no seat lock leaving training. There is a two year lock on subsequent bids. If you transition from the 757/767 domestic to international, then you only have 9 month lock. If you go from 757/767 international to domestic, there is no lock.

Good. Remember, there is no seat lock for your initial equipment. After that, an AE has a two year seat lock. If you are ever displaced out of a base or off of a plane, the seat lock goes away too. Again, welcome to Delta.

Bye Bye--General Lee
