Having a discussion with another buddy regarding Delta's jumpseat policy. So, hoping a Delta pilot could clarify...

What is the dress code for a pilot from another airline who wants to catch a ride on Delta?

... if he wants to simply catch a ride in the cabin... not in the jumpseat. Can he/she dress "business casual" and be allowed a seat? Or, does that pilot need to be in his company's uniform?

Thanks for the clarification,

Kav

Off-line pilots should go to the gate and request the jumpseat—gate agents have jumpseat forms that must
be completed. Check in at the gate 30 minutes prior to departure if possible. For international flights, check
in at the ticket counter. Appropriate attire (business casual or a uniform), airline ID, medical certificate, and
airman certificate are required. Call 800-221-1212 for flight information. Website:

Rode DAL the other day, PHX -ATL, wore slacks, dress shirt, & tie. I sat in the cockpit as the flight was full, and the pilots were very friendly and cordial (thanks Delta for the ride, the "flow through/open seat" agreement, and CASS) I was told that the tie was not necessary... a collared "polo" shirt would suffice. I kept my tie on anyway... I figure if I'm being granted the privilege of a free ride, then I ought to at least show up presentable. This stuff ain't that difficult... yes, biz-casual is okay.

that's funny... not...

It's funny how the Delta Jumpseat Coordinator forgot to list JetBlue on their multiple jumpseat list (which Delta has to call flowback??).

This is even after that Jumpseat Coordinator had contacted our VP of Flying about our current policy (which everyone should knows is very liberal and friendly).

Don't forget all of the regionals and other LCCs that they left out in the cold.

Here is another question for Delta folks:

I read somewhere that you now consider Hawaii flights to fall under international so no cockpit jumpseat. Is that true? If so, what's up with that??
