One of our key 2007 corporate objectives is to improve Delta Connection’s performance rankings, moving them to the top half of the regional industry by the end of the year. To lead our efforts in this area, I am pleased to announce that Wayne Aaron will assume the role of vice president – Delta Connection, effective immediately. In this new position, Wayne will report to me, and he will be responsible for operational and commercial oversight of our Delta Connection carriers with a focus on creating a more reliable operation and seamless travel experience for our customers. Wayne will retain his responsibilities in Business Development and Interline and Industry Affairs, continuing to report to Jim Whitehurst on those matters.
Wayne began his Delta career in 1991 in Domestic Route Development. In 1994 he joined Delta’s Alliance Marketing team where he helped develop and implement many of Delta’s international code share agreements. Over the years, he has held positions of increasing responsibility, including director of Schedule Development, director of Domestic Network Analysis and most recently, vice president – Corporate Strategic Planning. Wayne’s proven track record of excellence makes him an ideal candidate to bring additional focus to our overall Delta Connection performance.
Wayne’s transition to this new role will result in other structural changes to the organization:
The improvement we’ve seen in the mainline operation during one of our company’s most challenging times is a testament to our customer commitment and your hard work. Under Wayne’s leadership, we look forward to continuing the same great strides with our Connection carriers.
Please join me in welcoming Wayne to his new role, and thank you for your support in this very important corporate initiative.

Wayne’s transition to this new role will result in other structural changes to the organization:
- Comair President Don Bornhorst will continue to report to me, but Comair operational performance, Delta Connection Marketing and the Delta Connection Performance Management team will report to Wayne.
- Wayne’s responsibilities for Strategic Planning will be assumed by Jeff Arinder, who will report to Jim Whitehurst, and Ed Lohr will continue to lead the Fleet Strategy Team, reporting to Glen Hauentstein.
- Shawn Anderson, whose outstanding leadership over the last year-and-a-half as vice president – Supply Chain Management and Delta Connection laid the groundwork for the progress we currently see with Delta Connection’s performance, will now be able to focus his efforts on Supply Chain.
The improvement we’ve seen in the mainline operation during one of our company’s most challenging times is a testament to our customer commitment and your hard work. Under Wayne’s leadership, we look forward to continuing the same great strides with our Connection carriers.
