Sitting here waiting on a call from DAL for a class date. I'm wondering what is in store for me (and others waiting on class).

What have the classes been getting for equip & base? #'s

How long between indoc and training?

Any ideas on the next class dates? We got told they are still filling slots in Oct.

How many classes a month?

I have a low last 4 so, how long can I expect to be at JFK before I can bid to ATL? (I know it depends on equip)

How long between indoc and training? Anywhere from a week to 3 weeks, just depends on what equipment you get.

Any ideas on the next class dates? We got told they are still filling slots in Oct. Doing 2 classes a month that vary from 25-35 per class. Not sure what the plan is for Dec, all kinds of rumors out there on that one. It usually takes about 2 weeks from job offer until they get all your background paperwork back. So I wouldn't expect a call any earlier than 2 weeks. However, once you do get the call it could be for a class that starts in as little as 2 weeks.

With a low last four you can expect to be in NYC, but again this all depends on what equip is available. Being in NYC you cover all 3 airports. Good news is if you get in an Oct class, there is probably going to be a bid in Nov that could have you back to your base/equipment of choice in 6 months.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck

I interviewed in the middle of Aug. I go the email that says you are "OK TO TRAIN" on Aug. 24th. Got called yesterday 9/11 for a Oct. 1st class date. Next classes should be Oct. 15, then the 29th. Last months classes were Sept. 3rd, 17th, and Oct. 1st.
1 week off between classes.

Griswold,

Any idea if 1 OCT is filled yet? Waiting for the call as well for a class. Got the OK to train email on 9/6...waiting for the call sucks.

Don't know. Guys were getting calls for the Oct 1st class on Sat 9/8. Me and others got called yesterday 9/11. There were guys that got in the Sept. 17th class that interviewed after me. I do not know the order that they choose a class. I'm just glad to be in one.
Waiting does suck, but just try to relax it sounds like you will be in the Oct 1st, or Oct 15th. Congrats

The best person to ask is probably instructordude. After his brief tenure at GoJets, I think he's probably already teaching at the DAL schoolhouse. He'll have all the answers...well, that is once he finishes learning to fly the F-16 as well. Or was it F-15? Or A-10? Hell, I think he already flies all 3 and is one of the CP's for the triple 7.

Well things are on hold now. C-17Driver and I got letters from Delta explaining that we have psychological problems. Wait until I tell my wife. She'll say: I told you so!

Seriously, we have to go to a review board before we can go to training. C-17 had to retake the MMPI at the shrinks office. Doing that test twice in one day would make anyone nuts! I did my level best to answer honestly both on the MMPI and in the office. All my eggs are in this basket. I know C-17 has other options. Anyone know about this review process more than what I got from the DAL letter. Would it help for guys I've flown with at DAL to stop by the G.O. and put in a good word? C-17 and I both met with Dr. V. That guy was one weird shrink. I can't believe that guy is holding things up. F%&K!

You should be fine since it goes to the panel for final review. As long as you didn't grosely lie or come across as a physco. The shrink is just trying to validate the stupid MMPI by asking questions. Did you have a guy or a girl? I heard the chick is kind of weird. When is your review board.

Good luck bud!

InstructorDude....

I'm not throwing stones here, but if you had actually been through the process you would know who is in the psych office, how many male how many female etc. The things you have said about the process don't show any insight other than that you have read other people's trip reports.

Anyway, with regard to the screen board:
I have a buddy who got the psych came back with issues email as well. From the hiring department the last board that was held hired 8 of 12 pilots under review. So don't give up hope.

On a separate note, Griswold see you in ATL on the 1st!

Two-thirds selected. Not bad, not great. Any idea what the four non-selects had going against them? Any idea when that last board was?

I have no clue on either, sorry. But the number is solid.

I'll say this. Former military, with a solid service record and probably a holder of TS clearance.... I would be shocked if you aren't golden.

I heard the Non-Selects were Alabama graduates! I believe the

DOT/FAA/NTSB/NBAA/DMV/EAA/NASA/ALPA/ IPA/UPA/SWAPA/Teamsters/MAAD/APA/Kit Darby etc. have restrictions against UA grads from operating heavy machineary.

I hope you're right. They have all my military records. Everything is good. I pray the guys that review my records are former military and think the shrink is nuts himself. Oh well, I guess my fate is in thier hands. Can't quit the day job just yet.

The basic indoc class is two weeks long. IE no breaks between classes. They are running one right after another. There are a lot of openings on the ATL M88, 767, 7ER and NYC 7ER and M88. There will be a few 73N thrown in there as well. Most will get a wide body for the next few classes. After that probably the M88. Most of the guys coming off of the M88 are not slated to start training until next year. With this it allows them a few classes of new hires in the larger equipment before they have to start training people to fill our slots.
Read my post somewhere else about the review board. It is comprised up of another psyche, an HR person and a pilots. They look at your entire application packet and make a determination. From what I am hearing the odds are getting better. They know that there are flaws in the system, but once the board has made their decision it is final.

For those waiting on the review board, it is possible to get through. I recieved the email after the interview and made it through the board without having to do a retake. Now, I'm waiting on class too. What ACL pilot says is correct. Hang in there and let your background speak for itself.

I think shcipol and acl are right. I got the psych issues email and letter after the interview and had to go to the board. I think what got me through the board was reviewing the entire application. Reviewing the entire application lets them have a second look and an opportunity to make a big picture decision. That's not to say that all good guys get through, as no interview process is perfect. This certainly isn't a SWA review board as you have decent odds.

Insructor dude is a funny guy (not the ha-ha way)and does a pretty good job of being almost believable. That being said, he's partly wrong about reviewing the MMPI-2 results at the shrink office as when I had my interview with the shrink, he had not yet seen the results. Also, I did not have to retake the MMPI2 to get through the board. I'm sure different folks have different issues, though.

Good luck to you guys waiting and I hope to see you soon.

No assigned class date yet. I received a call and an okay to train email a few days ago. 'Think I have an Oct. 15 shot?

I forgot that I had that in there when the AE closed. It was from recall when I had to change and update. It was a shock to me too.

I thought that you were waiting for the 757, so I was surprised too. Oh well, there are worse places to be.
