A couple of questions for the Delta Pilots out there. What's the secret with Personal Drops? I put in a few drops for April on 3/17, they ran this morning (3/20), my swaps were denied due to CAPPED RESERVE DAYS. This happens to 90% of my drops over the years.

I hear guys say they drop all or most of their trips and just pick up trips during the month. How do they do that? I can't even seem to get one trip dropped.

Also, how do you check pilot reserve levels for next month? I can only seem to view this months levels?

Thanks,
Astro

They have to have more reserves than required for the trip that you are picking up...it is hard to work out a drop unless you do it before the first PCS runs on the 18th-19th of the month.

To check the next month of reserve coverage you have to change the month on the first page, select category and seat on the Open Time page, then select Reserve Levels for the month.

The drop system does not work for me much, although I have had a lot of luck using the swap board and networking with other pilots. JP

The guys that are dropping most all of their trips are in categories that are fat. Unless you have the staffing, you can't PD the trips (unless you are senior and have trips everyone wants to pick up - swap board and qualified open time). To see next months reserves, go to the open time page and you will see the drop down menu below the four choices and select the next month's bid period. Then click the Pilot Reserve Levels tab.

Jopilot...I did put the drops in before the 18th-19th...it never seems to help, I am always denied the drop due to reserve coverage. That's why I'm asking the board...

...and thanks for the "next month" reserve levels help...never noticed the drop-down menu on that page.

Heyas Astro,

Just to add to what the others have said, be sure to keep your request in. The staffing and reserves change day to day, so while you might not get it now, you might later.

Be sure to list your trip on the swap board. A lot of fNW guys haven't quite figured out the distinction between open time and the swap board yet, so be sure to spread the word.

Also you might consider a swap with the pot. If they don't have coverage on every day of the trip, you won't get the PD, but you might do a swap for a shorter trip. I wanted to drop a 4 day, but one of the days they didn't have coverage, so I swapped out the 4 day for a day trip on the day that didn't have the required reserves.

Last, don't feel bad...my category was all "blue" this month, and next month there isn't a single day of above required reserves.

where is General Lee on this crap....does she even work for DAL

"How did Happy Gilmore (RedDogC130) do? Dead Last. I am too Busy Winning......"

That is the best line at the movies for sure.... Enjoy LBB and all of those krappy West Texas layovers. Don't worry, I'll have some more fun in Brazil while I'm at it.

Bye Bye---General Lee

How do they compute required reserves? On most days in my category, the F/O required reserve levels are DOUBLE the required reserve levels for the captain category.

Captain required reserves are typically 7-8.
F/O required reserves vary between 9 and 15, most often in the higher range.
and we only have 62-65 lines total.

So we can't drop trips either.
Anyone know why this is?!?!?!
