Delta Customers Gain Nonstop Access to London-Heathrow, Paris-Orly and Lyon, France through Expanded Trans-Atlantic Partnership
Wednesday October 17, 8:00 am ET
Flights now available to customers at special low introductory rates
ATLANTA, Oct. 17, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- As part of an expanded partnership announced earlier today by Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL - News) and SkyTeam partner Air France, customers now can book nonstop Delta flights from the United States to three popular airports in England and France where they previously did not have access. The routes are:

* Atlanta to London-Heathrow (once daily, effective March 29, 2008);
* New York-JFK to London-Heathrow (twice daily, effective March 29, 2008);
* New York-JFK to Paris-Orly (four times weekly, effective June 2, 2008); and
* New York-JFK to Lyon (once daily, effective July 15, 2008).
With the new flights, Delta will strengthen its position as the world's largest trans-Atlantic airline and will more conveniently connect customers between Delta and Air France hubs on both sides of the Atlantic. The new flights to London-Heathrow will mark Delta's entry into the world's No. 1 business market and for the first time will connect London-Heathrow nonstop to the world's largest airline hub in Atlanta, bringing new competition and customer choice to a market where access has previously been restricted.
Delta gained the rights to serve London-Heathrow as part of an Open Skies agreement reached last spring between U.S. government and European Union negotiators that moves toward fully deregulating air transportation services in the trans-Atlantic market.
With the addition of flights to Heathrow, Delta will continue to operate seven daily round-trip flights in the London market with three daily flights at Heathrow -- one to Atlanta and two to New York-JFK; and four daily flights at Gatwick -- two to Atlanta; one to Cincinnati; and one to New York-JFK.
Customers flying Delta's newest trans-Atlantic routes will enjoy special low introductory fares for travel booked by Oct. 31, 2007.
Sample one-way fares, based on a round-trip purchase, include: --------------- ------------ --------------------- To From One-way fare* (based on a round-trip purchase) --------------- ------------ --------------------- London-Heathrow Atlanta $299 --------------- ------------ --------------------- London-Heathrow New York-JFK $199 --------------- ------------ --------------------- Paris-Orly New York-JFK $449 --------------- ------------ --------------------- Lyon New York-JFK $449 --------------- ------------ --------------------- Additional taxes/fees/restrictions apply. Just think how many more markets you could add with more concessions. Capitulation seems to be working out well for you guys.

You really are a clown. We also will be getting a 6% raise Jan 1st, and profit sharing in the form of a large check (a month's pay) sometime next Spring. We are also growing with 30 or more planes next year alone, and upgrades (including mine probably on the 738) will give me a lot more pay. How are you doing Tanker clown? Probably not that good. Are you doing a lot of LBB flights? You are awesome.

Man...I must be annoying you...

Hope things don't get bad next quarter. We all know who'll they'll coming to for cash.

I'm just saying, you guys had a nice quarter. Looks to me that you need to stand up for yourself and ask for your money back. Not in 6% chunks.

Thanks for asking about me. I'm doing fine. I'm still in military and am deciding what to do when I retire soon. Should I gamble and go with a legacy and fly great equipment or go pay for the type and go with a proven quantity (SWA). I personally am looking more favorably on not taking pay cuts and furloughs in exchange for a LBB overnight. My kids like to eat.

I just get a kick out of all the jokers always talking about fuel hedges running out. That's like saying that Delta will be in the red after your pay consessions run out...but then again, maybe they'll just come back to you guys and take it back again if the going gets tough. BK may be a little tougher next time with the new BK laws.

Thanks for contributing nothing to this dialogue. DAL is doing great and it now has the strongest balance sheet of any legacy carrier. Clearly you didn't get a DAL interview and you are upset. You really should go to SWA - please go. Enjoy El Paso.

Gimme a break! Your buddy the Genital has 75% of his posts trashing SWA threads and contributing nothing, why don't you get on HIS six?

Dude,

It's just not worth it. People forget verry quickly how much they gave up and how much mgt. recieved ($$$). People have wished for SWA to fail since the begining and will continue to do so fo a long time. I used to fight with these idiots but its not worth it. We know what we have and I feel sorry for everyone else who has never been here to understand that.

I was unaware that we were guaranteed a 6% raise next year. Thought it was 1.5%. The profit sharing is no guarantee either. 30 new planes next year? Can you elaborate? I thought we were getting 10 737-700s, 2 737-800s and a couple of 777s. Stop drinking the koolaide General. We are in for a tough fight in '09 to get some of what we gave up back. It concerns me that some on our list think things are so great!

Is the realignment gonna affect your -800 upgrade?

Not really, I have a 9 month hold anyway right now, so I think it will fit in nicely when the 737-700s come in next June. I am enjoying Rio and Vienna right now anyway.

30 planes. 10-15 MD90s, 737-700s coming 2 a month in June, 6 777s, and the remainder of the ex TWA 757s. Also, I have heard we will get that 6% raise, and we hit that projected number to get that amount already. We shall see about that.

What upsets me is that there are so many pilots out there that are not doing the right thing like the DAL pilots that are flying for peanuts.

I tip my hat to the DAL pilots who are currently flying for hourly rates less than the Valu Jet pilots. Plus there is the priceless and exclusive benefit the Delta pilots have of wearing the double breasted "Captain Stubing" uniform designed by male flight attendants.

The low wages of the pilots make large corporate profits possible which lead to the most important business category - executive bonuses.

I will put a call into Dick and see if maybe he can appoint the General to some sort of managment position. VP of Kool-Aid dispensing or something to that effect. We need more guys like the General constantly reinforcing management's view of conditions at Delta to the rest of the pilots - "Everything is great!"

With a little luck, we will be on our way to delivering the Delta pilots the 10 year contract extension they so richly deserve.

So if a guy wanted to get back to Atlanta the quickest what equipment would be best? MD88? How long would he be on reserve? How does this latest news affect things?

Anyone with some good info?

the quickest way to ATL is to take any equipment that is based there. Short of that, yes I think the 88 is the way to go. You'll be to ATL and holding a line before you know it.

I guess that will be up to us to decide won't it sport?!

Must be kinda hard to talk with your mouth full!

You gotta get hired first sparky! But based on your piss poor attitude, you'll fit in just fine with the likes of girls like swaf/o!

Your neighbor is doing just a fine job raising them. They'll be ok!

Couldn't get hired, eh?

Must be tough being apart from your trailer for months at a time. Now I can see why you're so bitter!

I never said "all is great." We have plenty of faults, and I have admitted that. Expansion is a good thing, and we are doing that. To say that we are not is disengenous. I still want a pay raise like the next guy, but I won't wollow in self pitty when I actually enjoy some aspects of my job. If some guys want to excentuate the negative, go right ahead. And Frank, you crack me up.
