A CHQ pilot who was down in Brazil recently to pick up a new 170 for CHQ's United division said he saw a 170 in a hanger slated for CHQ painted in Delta Connection colors.

Of course, I would never believe anything for absolute sure unless I see it for myself; however, I am posting this because this came from a reliable source and seems believable.

Granted I may not have as much time in this bizz as some on this board but since I've been working for the airlines I've never seen a company order aircraft or start a new codeshare or expand it without some kind of press release way before any metal is ever cut.

I really don't think any airline (contractor, mainline, WO or otherwise) would have aircraft built and contracts signed then just have the planes show up without saying anything in advance.

Any statement around here that includes:
-we had "someone in the know" in the jumpseat....
-I got this from a reliable source.....
-A check airman told me......
-Straight from the VP's (or insert anyother management type you feel applicable) mouth..............
-The training dept said......

or my ever favorite:

-Durring the interview presentation they told us..........

Ha, yeah! Lear, you remember all the wonderful things we were told way back in the summer and fall of '99? I believe things when the pay for it is direct deposited into my checking account, not after a press release or when I see my name on the left hand side of bidding list, or even when I see it on the ramp in company colors.

I can back this up. I was recently down there picking up an A/C and yes there was a 170 painted in DL colors in the 170 assembly building, i am not sure who it was slated to go to because there was no N number but the guy i asked said CHQ. Behind it was a 170 in USAirways colors and he said it was slated to go to Mesa not MDA.

Yeah that sounds pretty solid to me. Must be true.

Let me guess...Mesa is gonna fly this one for free....

Aircraft manufacturers routinely paint new aircraft in an airline's paint scheme simply to entice future orders from potential buyers. It makes it easier to try and sell an aircraft when you can see in person how it will look. It's smart selling. Bombardier did this back in the early 90's when they were trying to get orders from United Express carriers. Hell, they even flew one in to Spencer, Iowa to try and get Great Lakes to sign on. Anyways, remember the 90 seater that was sitting on the Bombardier ramp in Montreal with a Comair tail number?

Happy Holidays and fly safe!

Boy, what goes around comes around. I remember when RJ guys couldn't get airplanes fast enough while replacing narrowbody mainline flying at crappy wages. Now the "undercutters" are being undercut. Too funny!!

What exactly is mesa's or CHQ's paint scheme? Let me rephrase that. How many paint schemes does mesa and Chq have?

Yeah its friggin hilarious. BTW are you laughing with us or at us?

I sure hope its not just funny because you already got yours and your a closet sadist. Or I hope its not funny because you still work at the regional level and are a closet masochist.

Piece out my sista.

So Mesa has a 170 on the line yet they don't even have a 170 program started or a contract signed with anyone to fly them? I think this discredits your whole source. -Bean

Actually, no.. That is not how it works. Embraer has already made their selling pitch using a 170 painted in EMB colors. It flew all over to almost every regional and some mainline headquarters over a year ago. Not saying that there is a 170 painted in DAL colors, but it would not be a big surprise.

So what about the CRJ 900 in Comair colors? -Bean

How about someone contact someone who could sneak into this hangar and get a shot of the alleged DL livery E170. Theres bound to be some airliners.net person based outta brazil willing to do it.

When I started this thread, I was pretty sure this was true; but I still didn't want to say it was definite because nothing is definite in this industry. But, as we can see now, I guess I didn't have to put the question mark after the title to my thread.

Here is a slightly different press release, from the Republic site:

http://www.corporate-ir.net/ireye/ir_site.zhtml?ticker=RJET&script=410&layout=-6&item_id=657289

An interesting thing to note is that with this agreement, CHQ-RP will charge 3% less than its previous agreement with Delta for existing 145 flying.

P.S. I hope I gained some bonus points from the FlightInfo community for providing truthful rumors (an oxymoron, I know), for a change.
