Probably already been thought of but,

Ok, so lets assume Delta wants consessions from the Delta Mailine guys. Now the delta guys don't have to play ball with management and give them this-BUT-lets say the pilots are willing to give a little anyways to "help out" their company. The Delta pilots have been around the block a few times, and I'm sure they would include some type of "snap back" deal to reverse the pay cuts when things are better. In a show of "good faith" between the pilots and management-the pilot group will present this to Delta before they try to pressure the pilot group-and included in this proposal- a clause that voids all the seniority resignations of the furloughed pilots if they choose to return from the commuters-read COMAIR here. Comair might not like this cause they now all the guys will leave as soon as delta calls-so put in a length of service deal, or some kind of monentary penalty, like the training fee some company's have if you leave before a certain time.

Instead of putting stupid sh!t like this on the forum, why don't you go study and get your fuc*ing ATP out of the way. Or are you not 23 yet?

Hang on a min. guys...

This was not an atempt to piss off anyone, or flame bait...

Maybe I wasn't clear in the above post...

I've read how pilots at Delta are pissed 'cause Comair requires the furloughed guys to resign their seniority to work there.

This was just an idea of how to help some Mailine furloughed guys get back in the sky-WITHOUT giving up their recall rights to Delta...

Or, forget the consessions part, and just work out a "side letter" with your current contract that will allow your guys to come back from some company that requires them to give up thier seniority.

But then again, even if you don't care about your brothers that are out of work, I still do...

It has been said many times over. If we as Delta furloughs send in a resignation letter it will be accepted period. Do not send in a letter unless you mean it.

Also for me as one, and I believe a large part of the Delta furloughes we can't (as much as we would love to) go back and start our careers all over again making 15k a year. We now are older have families and are not willing to sacrifice everything again.

I don't see our MEC negotiating anything that helps us get jobs anywhere but Delta (although that is a long way off).

Blott,

TBKANE is correct, and he should know. It was a nice gesture though, and I am glad you are thinking in positive terms for our Delta furloughs. That type of attitude is helpful. I wish more at Comair felt the same way you do, especially your MEC chair. But, I will not re-hash this again. Let's just hope TBKANE and the other Delta Furloughs come back as soon as possible, and I think Dalpa is trying to work on a grievance right now for the War Emergency furloughs, which is a good start. Let's also hope things continue to get better for the industry. Thanks for your support Blott.

Truly I keep counting the days until I return, but it sure would be nice to know where to start the count!

ASA has hired several Delta guys/gals without having them give up their seniority. Yea once Delta starts the recall, we'll lose a few but we all work under the same company anyway. By this time, things should be much better, the mainline pilots get their jobs back, the junior guys get to move up, and the Captains will have gained additional experience from a Delta pilot in their right seat. It's just a matter of time for the cycle to come around.

I've had to reread this post several times to make sure that I'm not misunderstanding your point. Are you suggesting that having a furloughed Delta pilot as an FO is somehow a particularly valuable opportunity to garner more experience as a Captain at ASA? I will agree that any mainline newhire (and that is who the majority of the furloughees are) should be a pretty decent FO, after all a lot of them were former Captains at other airlines. That doesn't make them anything special when sitting next to another Captain. At best they are peers. What about the former military pilot with only 6 months of 121 experience at Delta? Is he/she a particularly valuable resource? No doubt they are capable but they aren't anything special. There is an opportunity to learn from anybody you fly with. Left or right seat. Newhire or old salt. I would be happy to fly with any furloughed pilot and I always look for opportunities to learn but just being a furloughed Delta pilot doesn't make them God's gift to aviation. Maybe I'm getting too sensitive in my old age but no matter how many times I read it I still find your comment somewhat interesting.

Actually I'm speaking of the one's I have had experience with. Several mainline pilots, including some United pilots, were former Captains at ASA. I'm rather new to the left seat of the RJ. Having a former RJ Captain in your reat seat gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. I see your point about military pilots. I have flown with several military pilots and never had any complaints. I'd feel better having them over a 250 hour Flight Safety pilot when the you know what hits the fan.

Like I said, I'm just speaking from my own experience, luckily it's been all good.

Caveman- I think you are reading too much into that statement. As a, somewhat, new Captain (6 months) I have really enjoyed having someone in the right seat who has, "been there, done that". Some have been Delta and others TWA (previous Eagle Captains). Their experience is another resource to draw from when weather is in the crapper, et cetera. I think ASA and Delta have a close relationship and I hope that we can provide a place for the furloughees to hang their hat until the mainline situation improves. I think that IFLYASA was supporting this idea. Fly safe- Wil

It's always better to have as much experience as possible in the seat next to you, left or right. If that was your point than I understand and agree.
