United Announces Plans to Launch Nonstop Service from Washington Dulles to Geneva

Next Tuesday we will open for sale new daily passenger and cargo service to Geneva, Switzerland, from our Washington Dulles (IAD) hub. Pending government approvals, we plan to begin the service in the spring of 2009, operating the flight with a Boeing 767 aircraft configured with our new, fully lie-flat business class seats.

"We're continuing to execute our plan to return ourselves to profitability, and key to that is adjusting our route network to increase our revenue growth," says Kevin Knight, SVP-Planning. "While our overall international capacity is being reduced somewhat this year, globalization is going to continue to offer us some opportunities, such as this new route and the service to Dubai we just began."
The start of Geneva service would mark our second daily service to Switzerland, joining our daily Dulles-Zurich flight.
The proposed schedule between Washington Dulles and Geneva is still being finalized and will be available next week.
Geneva is an international banking capital and home to the headquarters of many international non-governmental organizations. It is the second most-populous city in Switzerland, with good online connections for our customers via our Star Alliance partner Swiss International Air Lines
