EZ's not a bad place. They pay well.

Yes, after 8 years I'm still a candidate for furlough.
We are selling half of our fleet and I'm in the bottom
half of seniority. <shudders>

Conitnues to search for "Plan B"....

I feel for you and can relate since I am in the same situation. Since DHL decided they really don't know what the heck they are doing, two more airlines will lose their Dispatch offices. My "plan B" not include anything aviation related. Now to figure out what that exactly is.

I would, but I'll be in ATL working at a certain southern-based ATL major, working in their OCC in their NavData division; I start on monday...

Back to commuting...

Airways Furloughs 10

It is with great regret that I have to inform everyone that we have worked for some time to try and avoid furloughs but have been unsuccessful. I was advised yesterday that the word came down that we had to furlough ten people of which 4 have already been accounted for through previous attrition. We will have a net furlough of six of our members.

We have worked with our Local Management for months to try and avoid this but the decision has been made. I am still trying to contact Senior Management to inform them that I believe this is absolutely the wrong thing to do and the worst timing for it to happen. To the credit of the group you guys have saved millions of dollars worth of fuel that could only be attributable to your hard work and in my opinion this is a bad decision. As the managers of the Companies largest and most expensive resource we hope they will reconsider this.

I expect Local Management to begin notifying the bottom six members of the furlough and providing a date. I normally would wait until after Management makes their announcement but I was notified that this was going around the floor so I wanted to let you know what I know. I can assure you I will continue to do what I can to try and change this decision and can also tell you that Bob Maloney has done everything he could to avoid this. We talked about this for some time before the last group was hired because neither of us wanted to hire anyone and then have to furlough again.

If anyone is interested in a voluntary furlough, I would be glad to check on it so please let me know if anyone is considering it.

Didnt they hire some last year? My guess is that the most junior would be those guys...

In any event, this sucks big time...
