From the "only the police and military should have guns" files:

http://www.local10.com/news/3254310/detail.html

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A federal drug agent shot himself in the leg during a gun safety presentation to children and his bosses are investigating.

The Drug Enforcement Administration agent, whose name was not released, was giving a gun safety presentation to about 50 adults and students organized by the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association, witnesses and police said.

He drew his .40-caliber duty weapon and removed the magazine, according to the police report. Then he pulled back the slide and asked someone in the audience to look inside the gun and confirm it wasn't loaded, the report said.

Witnesses said the gun was pointed at the floor and when he released the slide, one shot fired into the top of his left thigh.

"The kids screamed and started to cry," said Vivian Farmer, who attended the presentation with her 13-year-old nephew.

"Everyone was pretty shaken up," Farmer said. "But the point of gun safety hit home. Unfortunately, the agent had to get shot. But after seeing that, my nephew doesn't want to have anything to do with guns."

The agent was treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center after the April 9 shooting and returned to work, DEA special agent Joe Kilmer said.

Police ruled the shooting was an accident, but the DEA headquarters in Washington was still investigating, Kilmer said.

I'm stunned by this.

What experienced weapons handler would fail to look up the pipe himself, and instead allow an amateur in the audience to determine that the weapon had been cleared?

This will follow this guy for the rest of his career, however short that might be.

Sounds infinitely better than DEA Agent shoots kids in front of self. Don't you think?
That's for sure...but after seeing this video, I think I'm going to have shoot myself as well! :D

If you can't stand to see video of a starkly beautiful CCCP girl shooting full auto suppressed Colt M-169 to the background music of AC/DC...don't click here. Well done video clip...

Marina Seminova does '69 the best...M-169 that is. :D

Smokin'!
Link worked for me, TB. Try it again, it is worth it!
The chick has a fine body, and can handle a weapon very nicely.

I can't get the link to work...
here is a link to the thread as posted on Uzitalk.com...seems one of the posters mentioned something about the amount of downloads causing some problems...plus a link to the LRM website is provided. When you open this link, you'll be treated to a picture of Carlie and below her photo is a link to Carlie and guns...the video is linked in there as well

He might not have acutally pulled the trigger. It sounds like maybe it might have been a slam fire. When this happens, a round can inadvertenly go of without pulling the trigger when the slide is released with a round in the chamber. Granted, he should have double and tripple checked to make sure the gun was safe, but I doubt he purpously pulled the trigger with the gun pointed at himself or anyone else for that matter. At least I hope so!

Sounds to me as if he racked the slide first, removed the mag and handed someone a weapon that will not fire unless the trigger is pulled:confused:

Then the fruitcake shot himself with it:(
Must have been a Glock:p

Sig rules:D

One wonders at the wisdom of bringing a loaded weapon into a room full of kids; much less manipulating it. He may lose his job and regardless of the reason I am sorry he was hurt, but this could have turned out much worse.

And they want to give pilots guns....
I was going to work that angle myself...but to tell you the truth, what's the delio?

If a pilot can manipulate the controls of an airplane without castrating himself, why shouldn't he be allowed to carry a gun? On the same token...why shouldn't anyone be allowed to carry a gun as well?

We as citizens (sheep), are treated as if we are criminals waiting to happen by our society... the government WILL protect us from our selves. We, as sheep, should not question those who protect us.
