Comair from JFK to DTW, Sept 1. What's that mean? 9E to NYC (Doing a bunch of flying out of LGA and JFK) SKW to MSP?

Please discuss with a pleasant attitude.

I know Oh to DTW will be announced in the next few days but I still question LGA DS says no, SB says will see, and JB says well, they will start utilizing our 700's from there a lot so will have to wait and see. And for you ASA guys with hard ons for starting rumors, there is no play for OH from you guys I mean skywest, because as you know ASA is not a company its a dept within Skywest. AS far as OH there is more in play for late fall early 2011, nothing of which is out there yet

SB,
There will always be the tools with a propensity for getting ramped over more airframes. It becomes easy to overlook the fact that when an airframe shows up, there are 5 guys that ended up on the street and now are worrying about paying the mortgage and feeding the kids. While I am not excited about going through a merger process, there is still merit behind SkyWest Inc having money to pull the trigger on a buyout somewhere. While it may cost me in the short run, I'd rather see the guys come over with the airplanes if a buyout does happen.

In the end, this is not the pilot's fault form either side. We have had our desire to fly for a living exploited and used against us. We being prone to the same faults as the next guy (human nature) will likely to have to endure this again sometime our work life. My only glimmer of hope rests in the idea that Delta and other legacy carriers have become concerned about the brand and providing one level of service. Whats does that mean for the regional's? Hopefully a great deal of the flying will be pulled back into the legacy providing more jobs that have the chance of paying better and a retirement.

I don't wish you fellas at OH an bad will. But i the show was on the other foot, I doubt that you and every single OH pilot would exercise restraint either.

For future reference, just to help out folks who are airline code-challenged:

Comair = CMR
Pinnacle (9E?) = PNC

not everyone here knows who OH and 9E are... not to mention those codes don't even sound like their airline names.

thanks!

Comair has been flying quite a bit out of DTW since the merger, what exactly are you talking about? Are you closing JFK crew base and moving it to DTW?

It's clear that DAL has zero concern for the low morale effect and expenses incurred by the frequent base shuffles for its regional partners. How are Comair pilots reacting to the news of coming to the D?

Well there is nothing official yet. So nothing to react to yet.

I commute to JFK from DTW, so for me it would be good.

Though to me I see JFK as more of a commuter friendly airport for those that will commute to either base. JFK has public transit, so no need for a car, and you can go to LGA or EWR if you need to and many other airline options. Yea DTW will probably have cheaper crashpads, but you will need a vehicle so it is probably more expensive in the long run for commuters.

People who are form CVG will probably it as it allows them to option to drive 4 hours instead of worrying about a flight to JFK. Commuting by plane form CVG to DTW is a pain in the ass from the looks of it now only 5 RJ's a day now.
