Rhoades Aviation still has two or three they fly out of BAK, I see them all of the time. However, their rep leaves much to be desired, from people who have flown there.

Forest Service DC-3's

The US Forest Service flies three DC-3TP's. Two are owned by the Forest Service and one is under contract from Rhoades. They are smokejumper platforms. They fly everything from smokejumpers to pax. The best
missions are the para-cargo ops and the cargo missions to the backcountry airstrips in Idaho.

and Miami Valley pulled the plug.
Sh1t!! That's really too bad to hear...they had a real sharp fleet of 3's, and recently, too.

Stay very very very far away from rhoades...That is a S%$t hole. I worked there for about two years...went from the 3 to cv to lear and all the twin cessnas in about 6 months. There 3's are all down now and I dont see them ever flying agian.

There is a few ops out of long beach that fly 3's to catalina(sp) and maybe a few out of Tx somewhere!
I will try to get the names for ya..just PM me if you want.

Oh yea, i forgot... Otis Spunkmeyer in San Fran flies a couple of 3's. They're really really cool, all passenger (tours of the Bay Area) retrofitted to look like the passenger birds of old. They even make the 88 year old flight attendants and the pilots wear the WOOL uniforms that were the norm back then. The service is supposed to be top notch.

However I have NO idea how to apply or if theres even been any turn over in the past few years. Would be a lot of fun though.....

a buddy of mine was out in el paso a couple of months back checking into a dc-3 job. it was a daily run down to chihuahua to pick up car parts. seems the company was looking for a pilot-a&p type, 2 for the price of 1. needless to say he's still at his old job.
