Is there anyone out there who would know how to log a DHC-8, full motion, class "C" sim in the good ole log book? WP guys, horizon?? Flight safety peoples???

Thanks for you time!

Don't.

But seriously.....I haven't logged any sim time (probably about 200 hours). If you want, I would put it in the back of your logbook, but keep it out of your multi and total time.

I'm sure some people will say that you can log it, and it is just as realistic as real flight time...but you're in a box. It's not flight time, and if you're looking forward to interviews I would say that this is the best way to do it.

im not going to put it in multi or total time but how is it classified as in whats the name/type of the sim like frasca and i can log instrument time which i need for my currency so i am logging that. Im still wondering/ looking for the official answer.

Thanks

I don't know of many people that actually do log that stuff. I have all of my old training records and such but I've never logged sim time of any kind.

i put it in ground trainer, but if its not for currency then it doesnt seem to mean much

I could be wrong here. but the only sim time you can log as actual flight time is only when you have a full motion, level "D" sim. with the dash 8 sim, since it has the crappy display verison, I log it along with all the other sims: under the sim coloum, just like frasca and ATP sim.

You're wrong. This topic (like so many others) has been covered in the past. Flight time means you are actually flying. Unless the sim breaks from it's mounts and launches across the room, it isn't flight time. It doesn't matter if a sim is a 20 year old Frasca or the most modern level D, it is not flight time, multi time or total time.

I do not log any sim time. It is your logbook, log whatever you like. Just be prepared to defend and explain any questionable entries at your next interview.

I log it under a column of simulator. I have over 200 hours in level D sims, so just keep track in case questions on forms arise down the road. You can log it a simulated instrument, granted it is simulated as IMC, just like hooded time. That's it. Combine it with actual and then you have your total instrument time. just do not log it as anything else.

The sim time will cover your currency for approaches and if you are going through initial or recurrent I believe it also subs as a BFR.?. I wouldn't log it as flight time though.

You can't log it for flight time, we all agree on that. I am saying for simulated instrument which can be logged. You just have to watch the way you write it down in the logbook.

Just put it in the Sim column. Don't add it to total. It's just something else to show you have a clue about what you're doing when you get to an interview.

An excellent statement that pretty much sums it up...;)
