FYI

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=DAL&t=5y&l=on&z=l&q=l&c=

Delta stock trading at new 5-year lows, also todays volume (32M shares traded) is the highest volume day in over 5 years

It should be noted that on Sept 17, 2001, the first day of trading after 9/11, DAL traded down on 16.6M shares traded.

Today, DAL stock traded twice its "day after" 9/11 volume.

I wonder whats going on behind the scenes...

I think "behind the scenes" you are seeing computer programs to cover shorts. A huge number of investors were shorting Delta. This is the only thing that makes sense with such large volume and no real movement in the price.

This morning it seemed as though the market guessed that there was something ugly in the 10-Q report that has kept the Treasurer's office a revolving door recently.

yeah but shorts are the ones making the money today, as the stock tanks, they short it into the ground. If I shorted Stock ABC at $100, and it goes to $50, I made a 50 percent GAIN on my short.

I would cover my short if the stock reversed direction and went up.
