DAL pilot who blew .07 in ORF

Just find out from a friend the REAL story behind the delta pilot who blew .07 through security at ORF. Word is he was
DEADHEADING. he was in partial uniform ie. no tie, epualets (you commuters know what I mean).

He had no intention of flying an airplane. He may have broke a company rule, but not an FAR.

Spekaing of the media, do you think you would see a retraction now, not very sensational anymore.

You are still bound by the alcohol rules if you are in the cockpit jumpseat.

Also, the company would have clarified this immediately to save face. Why have we not heard about this from another source.

If this is true that's good to hear. The guy did break the rules but at least he should be able to get back to the job some day. I hope thats the end of it for his sake. He's gone through enough and has had his pee pee wacked good so that should be the end of it.

I asked the same question, all I got was my friends buddy did a little checking around and that is what came out.

I am not sure he was on the jumpseat. If we DH we are given a seat in the back. I never agreed with it, I think it was a stupid thing to do, but not the tragedy the media made it out to be.

The media report was that this guy was removed from the cockpit while performing preflight checks. If he was DH and riding the jumpseat that might explain why he was in the cockpit. If he was in the back and not in full uniform then why the arrest ??

What the media reported. That's funny, one only needed watch the new today and see what the media reported. Hopefully that is not blind faith you have.

I don't know the specifics, I don't know if he went up to the cockpit and said hi, I don't know if the secuirity guard was new, and saw some uniform pieces and assumed he was flying. There are alot of wierd events that could have taken place to lead up to the arrest.

It is second hand information, but considering the events of the past year it is plausible. If it is true and he was DH I think you would be happy that a member of the brotherhood is not guilty.

I just find the inconsistencies to be glaring and the silence by the company to be even more so.

This would be up to the company or even the union to clarify, not too many people outside of the aviation business know what a "JUMP SEAT" or a "DEAH HEAD" means.

Too bad, he probably broke a company rule, but not the FAR's, not sure what the penalty is under Delta rules.

Whatever happens, expect Delta to remain quiet about this, too much attention with the drinking issue.

Yeah, I don't believe it just because the media said it, but...

the story I heard... he WAS a working crew member. When they pulled him off and he tested .07, he was then deadheaded back to ATL. the paper even said his captain was pulled off and deadheaded with him, even though he hadn't been drinking, and Delta sent 2 new pilots.

Just for giggles, find a bar with a breathilzer, or a cop buddy with one, and do your own personal testing. You might be surprised- you might feel sober and recovered and still blow something over .04.

Let's be careful out there...
