Since NWA owns a big portion of MedEx, I was just curious if anyone out there had any ideas on what may happen to Midwest Express if/when Delta and NWA merge? Business as usual, or a big shakeup?

I'm sure whatever happens, management will win big at the employees' expense.

Good question. What about Champion Air, owned by NWA also?

Bye Bye--General Lee

I would assume that they would be treated as other wholly owned companies. I know that they are not owned 100 by the parent company as CMR is, but that does not mean that anything different than business as usual would occur.
I would be surprised if anything happened to Midex. The reason that NWA bought then was to keep AAI out of their back yard. If they folded them in they would have to keep the operations in MKE. Problem is that the MKE market has become used to the level of service of MidEx. NWA/DAL or anyone else cannot compare to that. If they did get rid of them the loyalty of their O and D traffic would dry up. For that reason, I see it as business as usual.

Well we will see when they announce officially the merger. Nothing may happen. TPG owns Midwest and has nothing to do with Northwest and Delta. Northwest did put up 47% of the money, but the TPG owns Midwest. So Midwest will probable just operate independently under the Midwest banner and nothing may happen at all with Midwest.

but what about $100/barrel oil?!!!

and the imminent Democratic Administration?!!!

and the failing economy?!!!

how would MidEx survive such an inhospitable industry scenario?

Yea because we have done so good under W and the republicans.......YOU CAN"T BE SERIOUS!!!! Just think if Gore would Have won.....he never would have committed war because of fake WMD.....Gore would have raised the gas tax forcing people to drive more efficient cars hence decreasing demand for gas and we in the airline business would see gas at around 35 dollars a barrel. AND THATS NO JOKE FOOL

I don't get some pilots that are so big on Pres. Bush. They all say its for a higher purpuse, but that did real great too. I wish pilots would get a clue. Even ALPA tells you to vote Democrat. The economy was great under Clinton, everyone just remembers him getting a blow, but the airlines sure did better.

Thanks to the economic environment developed under the first Bush administration. Everyone forgets that. Clinton inherited a strong economy without wars and with the Internet coming to fruition. But I digress...

Don't forget...the taliban and al qaeda got incredibly strong while Clinton was getting hummers in the oval office.

If he had been more interested in national security than drawing down the military and banging fat chicks, we probably would not have been stuck with the resulting terrorist attack and the need to root the bad guys out around the world. He had the chance to kill Bin Laden and passed it up.

But hey, it's ok...since "the airlines sure did better."

Suggest you take the blinders off, Griswold.

Sounds like you got one of those "Vote W04 stickers" on your flight bag. Keep telling yourself he is great, if it makes you feel better. I don't think anyone will forget what kind of job he has done under this term.

Remember it was Clinton, not Bush who order the AA pilots back to work during their strike. Also, having worked for a gov't itell agency I can say that it is a FACT that Clinton passed up 2 specific opportunities to get Bin Laden.

Having said all this, I will also say that Bush is a complete TOOL

skip the class known as Sarcasm 101?

all of my comments in the previous post are tongue-in-cheek. jeez.

i don't care who is in the White House. if we continue to believe the b.s. that comes through every time pilot groups try to advance the profession then we only have ourselves to blame.

mergers are a horrible idea. the little men in the big houses will spout all day long about the necessity for mergers with oil prices, industry conditions, national administration change, blah, blah, blah. they win, we lose.

then after we all merge...oil prices CONTINUE to drop, they buy tons of new airplanes and facilities with the retirement nest-eggs of their employees. all the while the many recently hired folks are sent to the street until the 'synergies' work themselves out in a decade or so.

and by the way...they need concessions to fight off cabotage and Skybus/Virgin America.

thanks.

(sarcasm on)Sure,
We all found ourselves better off without Eastern Airlines and "no new taxes". That post-gulf war recession was nice, too. What was Bush... Reagan's #3 choice for VP? (sarcasm off)

You personally do more(or less) for our economy with your wallet than any president could ever do with his policies.

The FED controls the money anyways. Blame/credit Greenspan to make a more credible case here.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

I thought Champion recently went out of business? Who have I mixed them up with?

Are we talking about the same Al Gore that invented the Internet? I remember that loser saying that a several campaigns ago.

Yea such a loser - a nobel laureate.....The internet comment was a mistake he was talking about a web site function he helped to invent on the internet. Get over it LIBERAL means someone who likes to change. Conservative is someone who likes to keep status quo or go backwards in time. Yesterdays liberal is tomorrow trend setter. Remember the guy that said the world was round man he was a big time liberal back then even got thrown in jail by a$$ clowns like you.

I think roll call is being called at UTA weekend say hi for me.

I guess it's safe to say that this thread is no longer about Midwest and it's possible place in the DAL/NWA merger.

When Clinton was President 9/11 had not happened - People would not have accepted any loss of US lives, and the US would have lost standing in the International Community especially if the mission had failed or caused a lot of collatoral damage - especially if the Intelligence proved to be wrong (that's never happened before - yea right). Also consider what would have happened if the US had failed - i.e. Iran hostage rescue attempt - that would have only emboldened Bin Ladin.

When Bush was President we had Bin Ladin cornered in the hills of Tora Bora - we have since learned that we were within yards of capturing him.

Bush trusted the Afghan tribe leaders to keep Bin Ladin contained - Big Surprise - they let him slip through.

What the hell did Iraq ever have to do with the war on terror?

http://www.nationalpriorities.org/costofwar_home

500 Billion dollars and counting flushed down the toilet in Iraq.

As far as quality of president - Bush isn't even in the same league as Clinton - and I consider myself a REPUBLICAN.
