Hey, what is the latest on jumpseat rules for International flights?

Im talking about actual cockpit jumpseat, and going from Atl to Mexico. I'm a ASA pilot, and the back is filling up quickly so looking for the 'extra ' seat.

There shouldn't be a problem as long as there isn't someone else on it. I inghave come close to needed to international JS and the crew has said there wouldn't be a problem if it came to that.
Just remember the priority is nonrevs then jumpseaters, so if the a/c is weight limited you would be screwed. Also you might need to prepay the fees/taxes/etc before you hitch a ride.
Good luck

Thats another good question. how do you do that? Where? Ive non reved alot, but never out of the country. I usually take the back way in and show up at the gate.

The international taxes have to be paid in cash, I think it's usually done at the ticket counter, but I'm not sure. Last time I went from the Bahamas back to the US, no one asked me for any money so maybe they forgot???

I nonreved last November to Europe on Delta, they didn't ask me for anything either. I asked about it at the ricket counter and the lady said it is normally payroll deducted.

Now about using the jumpseat, I believe you can going outbound but if I remember correctly TSA won't allow anyone on the jumpseat for flights into the US.

Hope that helps.

I'm with Comair. I tried to js on DAL from Munich to Atl this past summer. I completed all the paperwork at the ticket counter and paid the fees(w/Visa $44). The supervisor then came over an told me only Delta pilots can use the actual 'jumpseat'. He showed me the policy on his computer screen. Luckily, my family and I got on the flight, last 3 seats.

Go to the ticket counter in the E concourse first and pay for any taxes for both jumpseat legs. If you can't jump for some reason, it can be refunded. Jumping out of the States is easier than jumping to the States. See if you can find a flight on the way back with good availability. If you sit in the back on the way back home and you are "jumpseating" ---I don't think anything will be a problem. If you have to sit in the cockpit, you may have to give the TSA 24 hours notice. I don't know if that is correct, but you may want to check how to do that. Have fun. Going to RIO?

Bye Bye--General Lee

On Mainline [international] Delta flights, only Delta pilots may occupy the cockpit jumpseat. The ONLY exception could possibly be Comair pilots if they can list for the jumpseat the same as Delta pilots can. ASA pilots may have been able to occupy the cockpit as well, but are not owned by Delta therefore they may not occupy the cockpit on Delta international flights.

As to paying the taxes General Lee is correct. Pay them at the ticket counter. If you do not get on the flight, you will be refunded the money. Also, you MUST be checked in at the gate [ticket counter] and listed as a potential jumpseater [cabin seat] 1.5 hours prior. In other words, if there is a two hour line to the ticket counter be there 3.5 hours earlier. These are TSA's rules, not Delta's.
