According to testimony provided by Delta CFO Bastian, DAL finished 2005 with $400M more in cash than anticipated and January results were $25M better than anticipated.

Excerpts from March 15th transcripts.

Bastian: Well, one major difference, as I
mentioned, is that we did close the year out roughly
$400 million in a better cash position than we had
anticipated in 2005. But that -- you know, most of
the other changes are relatively similar.

Q This morning you said that you were doing
better in January and February of '06. Do you
recall that?

A We were doing a bit better, yes.

Q Could you define the "bit" for us?

A Sure. We ended January about $25 million
in profits better than plan, and February we haven't
announced our results yet, so I'm not sure I'm free
to talk about February.

And next we are onto a profitable Spring and Summer. Costs are down, some of the fuel has been hedged, and Southwest raised fares. Indy Air is gone. I think we need to take the pilots to the cleaners to ensure bonuses for all!

Bye Bye--General Lee

This is the same thing that NWA did last quarter. I think it was too the tune of "only" 250 million. Good luck General, I hope your pilot group calls their bluff. There is no way that you won't come to an agreement in the end. I just hope you all stand up to the BS and keep this profession from going one more notch down into the toilet.

If SkyWest gets the 90 seat aircraft there is no question DAL management will get a bonus! and Uncle Jerry will get richer and the guy who has the ace, he will get richer as well.

If management found a way to send our pilot jobs to China, or India, they would.

Good luck you guys

Thanks for posting that FDJ2. My biggest problem is the $$ we are paying out in consultant fees!? If these A'holes are so damn worthy (after all, we're paying them retention bonuses) why in Gods great name are we paying consultants to do MANAGEMENTS job????
Anyone.....Bueller?????

This is great news!! I hope it continues for you guys and gals.

I hate that you guys are in limbo on whether to wait it out at Delta or go job hunting now. I hope your patience is rewarded.

General,

You were saying the "loyal" pilots are gone. I disagree. The ones willing to jump have left. The loyal ones are the ones still on the property. Some may be grizzled enough to burn the place down, but a few want it to work out. I hope the ratio (burn down/stay at any pay) is to your advantage during the upcoming vote.

And didn't the consultants and attorneys take away something around $350,000,000 from United?

Looks like further proof that the money in aviation isn't in the flying part of the game.
