Has anyone gotten a call from Delta yet?? If not does anyone know anything that hasn't been posted about the plans and process.
Thanks

Out of the 11 or 12 letters sent to ASA pilots by Delta, several were to F/O's. I can't believe that Delta seems to have matched Continentals move regarding hiring.

It sure would be a drag to get a job with Delta, Continental, or whomever with very little PIC and then get furloughed. I would be worried about the possibility of finding another job after furlough if I were an FO in that position. Having said that, not all regional FO's are PIC challenged and flew with many that had really impressive experience. My biggest concern would be, "I just got furloughed and I have no PIC, now what?".

On the "glass half full side"; DAL, CAL, ATran, etc... is a helluva lot better than ASA or (insert regional here). Good luck with your career quest, I'm sure you will find greener grass.

It's called Aircraft Commander time baby! Military, ever heard of it? Just cause they're FO's doesn't mean they are less qualified than the guy who just upgraded last week.

What were their backgrounds prior to joining ASA?

probably military, Just a wild guess. Considering in past DAL has picked military pilots first and over civilian pilots.

Forget DAL, when I get my 1000 PIC, I am going straight to FedEx!

The majority of the F/O's that calls are Legacy's. It is who you know, not what. That is the way that DAL is going to hire, much like CO, UPS, and FEX.

That's OK as long as it occurs in the private sector, and not government. Most hiring in the real world is based on knowing someone...business associate, classmate, friend, family. Just because you are related to a person doesn't change the fact that you know that person.

If you spent 30-35 years giving your all to build a company, wouldn't you want your kid to be able to work there if he wanted?

Sure. But it doesn't make it right. I'm a firm believer in hiring based on qualifications alone, not by virtue of having been born to the right family.

Hardly ANYONE is hired based on the qualifications. Its a matter of being in the right place (you or more importantly, your resume in the right part of the stack when they ask for the next "hundred candidates") or knowing the right person. If you're not qualified, you won't even be considered.

FACT: you must know someone willing to go the distance for you OR be in the right place at the right time. May not be fair but, thats life sometimes.
