yeah, commuting to sit reserve is a whole lot more fun if you can sit around in your underwear, scratching yourself and yelling to mom to bring you a turkey pot pie, and to hurry up with that laundry.
 
My suggestion is that if you do not get the base u want, at least bid the jet and commute to it.

If getting to LAX is what u desire, bid the 73N in ATL or NYC and then put in an Advance Entitlement bid for LAX when u can. NY is easier to commute to than ATL and seniority is better.

I heard there will be a bid out in the first half of May. The May 7th bubbas (last new hires) would be eligible to bid.
 
More reason to bid the base you want, then the a/c you desire. In this industry, things change on a dime, and last thing you want is stuck at a base that you don't like, making your commute difficult. Most of the newhire will have years on end to fly the 767 or even the 777, so there's no real reason to bid the "higher" paid position right off the bet, unless you gotta have those 48 hours MAD layover.
