Hello everyone..

I find myself in the fortunate position of waiting on a clearance to train at DAL - very happy.

I have 2 questions?

1. What is Delta looking for in background checks (I don't know of bones in the closet) ?

2. I want to be based in NYC and imagine that I will likely have my pick of airplanes. What type of flying does the 737 do out of NYC?

Thanks to everyone who shares info with me.

NYC 737-800 does some trans-conts, a bunch of JFK-Latin America with 24 hour layovers in nice hotels on the beach..

Background checks validate what you said u did. Assuming you were up front and honest at the interview there'll be no problem. But if you weren't, they are not afraid to let u go.......

Not sure you'll get your pick of planes....but if you're senior in your class and want NYC, you'll get it...BUT it depends upon what seats the company needs filled.

You may easily find yourself a NYC 76 FO....you never know.

I would honestly be quite content with any plane... just trying to learn the flying that the various airplanes do so that if given the choice I can make a slightly informed decision.

How about reserve times on a/c types out of NY, and any word yet where the new 73's are going to be placed?

I thought some of the new 700s would be placed in CVG, ATL and LAX. I could be wrong though. ATL is probably a certainty.

737 Nyc

Plan on 2-3 day trips. Occasionally a 4-day. Occasionally a 1-day.

Lots of red-eyes ("all-nighters" in Delta-speak.)

Lots of morning sign-ins (0500-0800.)

Lots of short-calls on reserve.

Almost all trips are now out of JFK.

I've done trans-cons almost exclusively with mostly 20+hr layovers in downtown SFO, LAX, SAN and LAS.

First-class in-fllight meals.

Takes about 7 months to hold a line.

Very easy airplane to fly.

Very easy training environment (that's the case with every fleet here.)

Very easy job.

This place has exceeded my expectations on almost every level. It feels great to finally "make it."

Congrats.

How about the LAX 73N? I know it's a rather new category. Anybody can chime in on their trips? Life on Reserve?

Thanks!
