Sad but true:

Delta Airlines has lost $6,000,000 everyday for the last 5 years!

Don't believe me? Here we go...

$11,000,000,000.00 (total DAL loss reported since Jan 2001)

divided by 5 years equals:

$2,200,000,000.00

divided by 365 days equals:

$6,027,397.26 every single day for 5 years!

just for fun that's:

$69.76/sec loss for the last 5 years!

You're lucky, milkman helped me with mine...Seriously though, Take a look at all the 1 time items (write off's) that were done over the past 4 years.
You know the saying....Liars figure, figures lie.

also....

"Delta's fuel bill during the three months ended in September was $442 million higher than the previous year because of record prices for jet fuel" and "its operating loss was $240 million — better than last year's $423 million loss on the same basis, which excludes interest, taxes and reorganization charges."

That means that WITHOUT the rise in fuel costs, Delta would have made an operating PROFIT! And realize that that operating PROFIT would have been made while paying CURRENT wages to both pilots and non-union employees.

I know, I was tired last night. You know that some of that was flawed. They had a $1.6 billion tax write off for ASA/Comair, so that part wasn't really a cash loss. And, there were a lot more write offs--we always said Delta was the "king" of the one time charges. I guess a "loss" is a "loss" though.

Maybe you are still tired.

I can remember "RIGHT ON!!!" from the 60's, but can't say I've ever seen a "right off".

Sounds like something the white cop on Sanford and Son would say. Maybe the Karate Kid's mentor would have admonished him to; "Right-ta-On; Right-ta-Off".

Did I actually WRITE that? Gawd, I am stupid. Sorry. Write offs. WRITE OFFS. Man, that is stupid.

Here is more about our last quarter loss:

From the Article "Excluding one-time items, Delta posted a loss of $438 million, narrower than the $592 million figure a year earlier."

Bye Bye--General Lee

PS--I am going to change it in the original.
