Heard a lot of CA's are getting nastygrams in their boxes because the Gates are coding in more and more Crew Delays (when that is usually not the case).

CP's are wanting explanations/proof that it is not a crew delay so be sure to take note every time ramp wants to add "Fo Mo bags Cap'n" or because passengers showed up 15-20 min past scheduled departure time.

I stumbled across a form on ourasa called "operation performance summary"
and it has some pretty interesting numbers. Correct me if I'm wrong but if "CR" is the abbreviation from CREW delay, than it it looks like where leading the charts. In my experience 95 times out 100 it is not the Crew that's late.

What ever takes it off of the gate or ramps shoulders is gonna be the code they enter everytime. So crew it is. Its is a shame when accountability is only applied to one group.

It has been that way the entire time that I have been here! Shove blame onto someone else...and it started at the TOP!! D!CKHEADS!!

I don't know of any captains that have been called on the carpet for a delay. The day they start doing that WILL be the day this place shuts down.

My capt got a letter in his box last week to explain the crew delay.

We were on the plane for 40 minutes before a agent came down. Then waited another 20 minutes for the release. Then 15 minutes before the boarding started and in atl fashion it took over 30 minutes to board.

Delay Code: CREW

We had a flight attendant get sick the night before our last day of a 4 day out of LAX. They called in a reserve from the hotel. Ops summary said pilots late from hotel!

A few years ago they wanted to know about start-flights. Anytime we were late for any reason required us to see the CP that day. I don't believe anyone had any suspensions over that.

Anyhow, if you have an ACARS airplane, you can put in your own delay code. You just have to make sure you put in an ETD when you initialize it and then a Dep Dly note will come on after ASA delays you.

OR

You can do what I do and not give a sh$t about it until you are called in and then merely explain how your "team members" caused your tardiness.

They've been blaming the FAs too. And the FAs ARE being punished when they get called in, which is BS since they have the LEAST control over the situation, and also have the least defense against management.

I have never posted a reply. I just lurk around and read - and mostly just shake my head at what I read. I definitely am not sticking up for this company!! However on this subject I would like to add my observation. What I have personally experienced is that the CP’s are seeking explanations about the delays, because they are trying prove that all these “Crew Delays” are really the responsibility of other departments. For the most part I believe they are able to show that the crews are being tagged with the delays when actually the crews are doing what they are suppose to be doing and other departments are trying to cover up there own operational problems and shortcomings, by shifting the focus (or blame) to the pilot group and away from their own departments. Not a perfect system, but as a personal observation, at least I see someone trying.

A cheif pilot was telling my cappy that the GO has finally started noticing that the majority of delays are coded as crew delays. The CP's know this isn't true and are trying to prove the delays are really coming from other departments.

FINALLY? They've been doing it for at least 5 years! Just when you think the GO couldn't be bigger morons, they come out and surprise you.

True statement,a CP (the balding one) says that a random amount of "crew delays" are now being researched in order to "send" the other departments the truth. Probably won't fix things, but at least the other department heads will know that Flight Ops knows and has proof that most delays are not caused by the crews. So, don't get all pissed if you are asked about a delay. The CP's seem to know the "real deal".

too mo bags
spin spin spin ......scratch
1 more pax and 1 mo bag

3 mo bags

Flight control:what's the delay?
Ramp: waitin' for paperwork from the crew

More like Operation Clockwork ORANGE..........

Just for kicks I'm gonna start scratching notes on when I arrive at the aircraft, and the series of events that lead up to my late departure. That way when asked, I dump all my scratch paper on a CP's desk and tell them to sort it out..........

That's hilarious.

Seriously though, how exactly can a crew delay a flight except by not showing up? No paperwork means no go, no passengers means no go, no bags means no go, no fuel means no go. This is the kind of stuff that happens all the time and crews cannot control any of them.
