Anyone care to share their thoughts on Cincinnati? I'm probably going to be based there and I'm unfamiliar with the airport and city itself. I'm kind of used to living in large cities like D.C. or Boston...so I'd like to live in downtown Cincinnati if possible or in some trendy neighborhood near the city. Do such places exist in Cincinnati and if so what are the neighboorhood's called? How expensive would it be?

Thanks.

There will probably be more people who know more but here's my take. If you're going to be based out of CVG that's actually Northern Kentucky. You're probably 15 minutes from downtown Cincy depending on traffic. If you're flying out of Luken (sp?), that's not too far from downtown also - just east of the city. Like most larger cities speculate there are plenty of trendy areas to live in. You'll have to cross the bridge everyday over the Ohio river. Unlike the northeast, there aren't any toll charges though!
There are several on line cost of living web sites that may be able to assist you in determining the COL. Speculate it would be cheaper than Beantown and DC. Again, there should be some folks on this board who can help you. If you like college basketball, you're in a great area.

CVG is actually in Northern Kentucky. IMO, you would be better off living in a community such as Hebron KY or Erlanger KY, rather than in Cinncinati itself; reason....traffic in Cincinnati is horrible. Very slow moving in rush hour, and heavy in general at all other times. Live in Hebron, and you will have a very pleasant, and short comute to CVG airport

Traffic is nothing like Orlando, or SOCAL. Therer are lots of signs up that tell you if there will be big delays, along with lots of alternate routes.

Trendy places in Ohio are Mt. Adams, and Mt. Lookout-Hyde Park area. Lots of bars for single folks, if you are into that. You are looking at a 20-25 minute commute to CVG without traffic.

As far as N. Ky, you can get a place in Covington near Main Strasse. Again, a big singles scene. Other than that, I am not too well versed on good places in KY.

It is spelled Lunken, and Anderson Township is just east of that area. Better area for families than singles, but it's real nice. It is getting kind of pricey though.

Let me know if I can help.
