The Customs / Boarder Patrol web site says pilots need 500 multi engine Aircraft hours. It makes a distinction between airplane and aircraft flight hours. Can the 500 ME hours be ME helo hours, as it is written?

Also, does anyone know when the hiring freeze is going to be lifted?

Thanks.

Good question for those of us that apply for gov jobs, I never thought about it. However, all the gov 2181 series and other flying positions (fixed wing or otherwise) advertise the same requirements. I just don't see how ME rotor time would apply as it relates to ME fixed wing experience. It sure as $hit doesn't work the other way, or I have 2000 hours ME turbine rotor time. Yea right. It's a moot point, customs hires almost exclusively ex-mil dual rated guys, which you seem to be. The hiring process is long, make some friends(contacts) and you'd be a shoe in for a slot. SOMEDAY.

Check out www.aptap.org, if that is not he correct website then google Army pilot to airline pilot and click on the top site. They have a thread committed to customs.

Thanks. I have friends in CBP that say the message will say specifically if your helo time can be used for ME time. Since they are in a hiring freeze (as I understand), it really is not relavant at this point though.

As per aptap, I have looked there. Have not found that thread, althought I did post it there.
