Being a frequent user of KTEB's lovely US Customs services, I can give you a little info. Their office is located adjacent to the Atlantic Aviation ramp, however, they will meet you at Jet Aviation as long as you set this up.

EVERY time I've cleared customs in TEB, there has been a delay. When clearing at either location I've always had to wait at least 10-15 minutes for an agent to arrive. Last week I cleared at Atlantic Aviation and there was a new agent in training. It took 15 minutes to clear 6 passengers. At least he was friendly. Maybe you'll be more fortunate. Good luck.

Jet Aviation works fine. They will meet you there anytime. Just do not open the door until the customs agent is out there. They get really pissed if you open it early. You will most likely have to be pushed back after clearing due to Jet's parking areas. Have all your paperwork in order with a smile and all should be fine. Expect delays anytime now at TEB.

All of the previous comments have been in line with my experience there too. Don't open the door until a Customs officer is there. Make sure the no one leaves the airplane, i.e block the door, until they check your impeccably organized, neat paperwork. They may ask to see every passport. They may come up the stairs and "have a look." I've found them to be polite, quick and professional. Being on time and having your paperwork ready expedites the process, just like anywhere else.

As for delays, you should be fine as long as you arrive before 7AM and leave after 8PM on good weather days.

Also TEB customs requires a specific TEB customs arrival form that can be obtained by fax from them.

I cleared at Atlantic a few months ago. Two crew, two pax. Customs set up by my flight planning company. Two agents. Block in to Block out was 5 minutes.

Had one of our aircraft clear at ExcelAire's brand new FBO at Islip coming in from Germany. Took 60 seconds, and the Inspector couldn't have been nicer. Also didn't get the usual delays coming into the NY area that TEB and the other airports get - ISP misses out on all those "gifts" the FAA gives folks heading that way. Probably saved about 15 - 20 minutes flying time by avoiding the NY Metro area.

Pax choppered into the city right from the ramp, and were downtown 25 minutes after touching down at ISP! Talk about happy executives.

Lately at teb i have been asked for the 178 form times to be correct. They now ask for pilots certeficate and medical all the time is seems like. max wait 1 hour min wait i've experienced was 5 minutes. Not as bad as Miami but certainly not as fast as Morristown.

You will be told by the officer to shut down the APU at some point during the inspection.

CBP implemented this procedure about six months ago. They now run around the airplane with a Geiger counter checking for radioactive material. Apparently, the device produces an aural signal and can't be heard outside the aircraft with the APU running.

I've found them to be consistent in using this procedure at TEB when clearing both at Atlantic Aviation and Jet Aviation.

I brief the passengers on this beforehand so that the dark cabin will not come as a surprise.
