I don't think they're hiring right now, but even if they are I'd recommend running the other way. I've never heard a good thing about them.

Just over a year ago, I was given the opportunity to go fly there as a 727 captain(well, at least interview). Looking into it, I decided to stay at PSA. Custom didn't offer any health insurance (wife was pregnant, and our son was 14 months old), so that was a big negative. Also, they only had 6 a/c (from what I remember) and were flying mostly out of DAY. I'm not sure where or what they are doing now, so I'm not sure if it was a wise decision or not. Going to work there would have been good for two reasons, flying the 727 again, and getting out of the US Airways system. Both of which were very appealing to me. However, in the long run, I decided to stay here and hope for better job offers in the future, which obviously haven't come along.

No, they are not hiring. They are still based out of Dayton. I think they had 8 727's, and the leaser took two back. As I understand it they will work you 365 days a year untill you ask for off. Which is great if you want to work really hard for a month and earn a lot of money, I think they are decent about giving you your requested time off.

My buddy paid for his ticket. He paid 10 grand to sit side ways and they promised him a window seat in I think six monthx, 18 months later it happed after a brief hiatus to fly freight in Barons. My buddy left them for the freight job because he was never home, but he's happy now as an FO.

Wow your buddy paid 10k for an F/E ticket??? Idiot.

What is the status with the (DHL?, cant remember the name of it) contract out of Dayton?

I can't stand when people buy there ticket, it takes a good job away from someone who has been working in the trenches getting paid sh!t money. There isn't too much respect out there for them, I personally would never do it, but aside from that, it bye passed 5 years of sh!t flying and money, and you can pay it back on two months pay. That is if the company is still around or doesn't furlough you, lol.

In short is this 25 year old 727 pilot an idiot for bye passing 5 years.......I'm going to have to go with No on that one!

Custom Air will most likely have 6-8 airplanes operating when UPS starts flying the Dayton routes or when they shut the hub in 6 months to a year. They operate about 18 now.

UPS prucahsed Menlo (Emery) and will be closing the DAY hub and moving it to SDF. All the flying will be done by UPS.

Finally some good news! Flying going from low paying contractors to a high paying career airline instead of the other way around. Sucks for the CAT guys but it is good for the industry.
